Default USED Sti 2.5L short block

Well, after 3,000 miles I had the luck of a rod bearing spinning on my personal Rex. As soon as it was heard the vehicle was shut down and towed, couldn't risk damaging the $2000 valve train. Motor was broken in properly just a bad case of a reused oil pump it looks like.

The crank may need to be turned, it may not. Unsure without full tear down. Pstons are good and the rods are straight. Case is mint.

Note strengthened web design in the case, not found on EJ205s.

I would suggest this block to anyone wanting a core for a build up or anyone with the skills/know how to replace rod bearings. These options include:

-Rebuild to stock EJ257 (new bearings, possibly new crank)
-CP piston & rod build up for higher hp app than stock internals allow
-Core for Magnus or other similar build up requiring a good condition core

Cost, looking for around $600 plus shipping (right around $60). Paypal accepted, checks accepted, dibs not accepted. Money in hand/account seals the deal. Located in Tucson, AZ.

Reason why I don't fix it, I currently have 4 other long blocks keeping me busy at this time.

bump for sunday. $600 shipped to your door via UPS insured. 48 states. Not sure how much shipping would be to HI, AL, or PR but I am more than willing to look into it.

by any chance you can take a picture of the bearing....it'll require taking the pan off, and seeing what's under there. Just want to see if it'll need a new crank/rod since those aren't that cheap seperately.

I tried but can't see the bearing with pan and windage plate removed. THis is about as good as a pic as I could get. I was hoping to see some rainbow discoloration on one of the rods to let me know which one was the culprit. Since the motor was shut down immediately it never had a chance to warm up the rod to the point of rainbow colors. A good thing IMO.

i'm very interested, but just wanted to know what is wrong.

If I'm willing to put a deposit down for you to pull the rods, and crank a part would that be okay?

Just want to know if the crank needs to be replaced. If so a new crank run ~$500 the last time I checked and that wouldn't make the block worth it. If it's just minor stuff, and the crank needs reploshing and new bearings, I'll take it. Let me know. Thanks

From what we have seen this motor has rod knock as heard in this video. Please right click and 'save as' Motor was rev'd to 3K rpm range.

Video Link

The draw backs to disasembling the block are:

-If the buyer backs out then I'm stuck with a disassembled short block

-Labor involved (2 hours or so)

-Tools required for finite measurements as per manual specs (do not have)

The block will be sold 'as is' in its assembled form. The block is still marked unsold till money hits the account (pm for paypal info). Everyone has a fair shot at it, no 'dibs' and no pecking order. If ya want it then drop me a line and it's yours.

next week in the vendor forum I will post each part involved. Short story is that a jdm sti v7 and jdm sti v8 are being parted down and all parts will be for sale. I am currently awaiting the 2nd motor to arrive (shipped yesterday)
