Angry Help me! I don't want a camry.

My mom is looking for a new car. and it came down to the camry, avalon, forester. Without me the forester would not have even been and option. But right now she is leaning towards the camry, just becuase the rear seat is wider. Keep in mind that she is a "point A to B" person. So what I need you to do is find some car reviews that are favorable to the forester. and maybe some review that weren't so keen on the camry. Thank you.

Might want to stress the cargo capacity of the forrester vs the others. Dont know if you have dogs, etc, go camping, but the forrester will be better for those things. I cant really knock the camry that much, but make sure she gets the v6 if she does get one. The 4 is weak. It all depends on what you want to do with the car I guess. Down in florida I dont imagine there is a real driving need for AWD...

NO dogs and we camp about 2 times a year. Yeah I'm really pushing for a v6 if we get a camry. IT is just I really don't want to be cruising the beach in a camry. UGGHH

Tell her the Forester is an SUV & therefore it's cool.

Either that or tell her to get the Camry with the TRD blower.

I'd rather have the Camry than a Forester. A TRD bodykit and blower, those things can be pretty sweet.

I would rather have a forrester. Tell her that a forrester would be easier to find in a parking lot than a camry.

It should come down to a matter of pricing.

Base Camry will be decently priced, but Toyota really puts the screws to you with options. Oh, and mention the fact that the Camry is one of the most-stolen cars in America.

The price of the Camry V6 LE (23k? MSRP) compared to the Forester L (20k MSRP) should help their decision some. If they wanted they could get a Forester S with a ton of cool options for less than the Camry V6.

It shouldn't be hard to convince them. I don't know why people even buy Hondas and Toyotas anymore at the price they're paying. The gap in reliability between those two and the rest of the pack is narrowing every year. Even the domestics are closing the gap!

Camrys are very overpriced, also they are not cheap to repair. Contrary to popular belief they are not the most reliable things in the world either. I had one that ate alternators and continually had bearing problems. The car did go virtually trouble free until 150,000 miles but after that everything fell apart.

2 clutches + 3 alternators + 2 timing belts + chronic starting problems + blower motor + etc = $$$.

It was a 2.0 Inline 4 that got great gas mileage but could not get out of its own way. Fun is trying to merge into DC traffic on I-495 when you've got it floored and you feel like you could run faster.

I would get the Subaru because parts are less, they are just as reliable, and have AWD. Everyone already has a Camry. If you must, I would go with the Solara, but that is probably not even an option. Also, the Subaru has more space for hauling stuff, the first time your mom goes to a garage sale or antique store with the new car and gets a large item, chances are she will be able to put it in the Forester and not the Camry.

Sorry I do not know of any recent comparisions, so I just thought I would give you some of my personal experience.

What's wrong witha Camry? I see Camrys with huge wing and clear tail lights all the time in Toronto! I'm sure Imprezive can do that too. Slap on some TRD stickers and banners. Off you go. Oh some hood scoops and you have a giant Impreza look alike. Seriously the tail end of the older Camrys look very much like the Impreza's tail end.

Question

Wait, the Legacy is too expensive but an Avalon is on the list? Avalons are SWEET- like baby Lexuses (Lexi?). Down in Florida w/ all the geezers in LTDs & Caprices, your mom wants the Avalon for crash protection! And the room inside Avalons rivals a Caprice!

Lone Wolf- I've got 60K on my subie and its leaking oil out of all its seals, its been through an alternator, the clutch shudders, it had ECU/hesitation problems, they say the Phase I DOHC Block is an accident waiting to happen... I'd take 150K trouble free miles anyday!

Well first off imprezzive you have to prove to her that you are an apt driver and a good car person rather than a young brash punk. Know what I mean? Err back in a few years, my mom would never let me touch her MX-6 V6 5spd. (yeah my mom rocks! She hates auto!) But now I can pretty much take the Mystere out whenever and can do simple mods on it. Heck she asked me to put in a K&N for her but I was to lazy. Over the years I've proved to be a responsible son and seeing the way I take car of my Impy, she trusts me more than ever with her MX. Now the 330Ci is a different story tho....
