Unless your model is different from newer generation Subies, Fram 3593A isn't a direct replacement. Although I used them all the time on my 90 Legacy, a Purolator 14460 is the correct filter, while the Fram crosses to a 14459 (different backing plate, the Fram threads won't spin on very far before contact between the gasket and the faceplate).

At the risk of reigniting the perennial battle, please get a Purolator or OEM filter and donate the Fram to a Yugo or other former Communist-state car owner.
