A few weeks ago I ask you guys what car I should get. It had to be less than 17000. Well I oder my Ford, thats right Ford, ZX3 and it will get here in about 2 months. Of coarse I can't wait till the WRX gets here because that will be my true joy. Now I'm probalbly get flamined by brucelee, but I dont care, I'm happy with the my decision.

Hey for 17K I guess that's not bad. I'd have gotten an Impreza L personally or an OBS. Cause once you go AWD you never go back.

I think you made a good choice. It's not the one I made, but of the Impreza alternatives I think you picked a good one.
I think LEDA may already have a coil-over system for the Focus ![]() |

Fogot to mention that the ZX3 came out to be 14,125 but I'm going to see if the dealer can go lower.

Hey man, no flames here. You picked a good car, the aftermarket is starting to get better for the ZX3. Not all of us are millionaires!! I was just lucky that I had a few more dollars on hand to afford the RS, otherwise I too would have picked up the ZX3.

Rally Man - $14K? Wow. I thought the ZX3 was a lot more expensive than that.
I've been thinking of getting a commuter/city car lately so I can feel better about modifying my RS.... and the ZX3 is still pretty fun to drive from what I'm told. -Edwin |

The price is what really shocked me as well. I went to the dealer and looked over a bunch of Foci. You can get them really stripped down (and consequently lighter) if you want to.
I should see if I can rent one and autocross it ![]() |

Hey how's about that? I just ordered a ZX3 for daily driver use, so I can covert my Impreza into a rally car. Time to go nuts with the Subie! Unless you're getting an auto for that price, get the dealer to go lower! I worked out the deal to about $13.5K . Fully loaded ('cept side airbags and cruise) ,white w charcoal int, 5 speed. I placed my deposit 2 weeks ago, and I expect delivery sometime in June. I'm gonna do a couple tweaks, basically suspension, wheels and a 2000 WRC spolier (the '99 wing is ugly). Check out www.kustomz.com/focus.html , and www.focussport.com There is almost as much stuff available for the Focus as there is for the Impreza now. Later all, and keep your Subies slideways!

Do I see a MAF on here?
*shrug* I'm not sure even if I was just getting a commuter car, if I'd go with a non-AWD car. |

The Focus ZX3s are delivered on ordering basis? I didn't know that, I thought they stocked those. My car (ITR) I got in 3 days, well but that was because I had an inventory swap done.

Heathen! Heathen!!! get out from this board!!!
----- psyche ----- I think the zx3 is a decent car. it's cheap. darn cheap! I'd buy it with a/c and then go nuts at autoXes... Just wonder if it might feel a little tipsy tho. Better buy than a civic! Looks kewl too. wish they had the awd focus instead.... bt alas Subaru Impreza reigns supreme still at the under $20,000 AWD car. heck it reigns supreme for a regualr car too! |

When I was car shopping late last year, I would've gotten a Focus over my RS had they been more readily available. I think a stock Focus will outhandle a stock RS on a tight autox circuit due to its nimbleness and light weight. Plus, I would've paid almost $7000 less for the Focus... think of all the mods!
Still trying to convince the wife to sell her Acura CL & get a ZX3... I'll have to take her to an autox with me to show her what I mean. ~G |

The only problem with the focus is that its made in the US. I've been in both the euro and us versions and the euro versions feel, well, like european cars. The us version felt more toward the crap side. I really don't know why though. They look the same both inside and out, but perhaps the suspension setups make the difference?? So I guess a proper suspension can bring the car back to its potential.

I dunno, i think the awd is ir-replacable on the auto-x. I was pulling in times 3 sec slower than the vettes with a stock '88 XT6

Edwin,
You saw the two ZX3's yesterday at NHIS, right? The blue one was running in the low 32's in stock class, 2-3 seconds faster than our Sube's! The owner bought that car for about 14K. That same car did quite a wheel hop *sideways* over a cone at the NESCC auto-x in Orange last month. Nimble little car, but maybe a little too tall for its own good. -WaC Wayne |

I personally really like the focus, if it had been around before I bought my TS I might have gotten that. Still trying to convince my brother to pick one up.
I'd do the same thing as tyrmeltr, get it as a daily driver, save the scooby for the weekends and throw on some boost! Good buy, the focus is such a cool little car. |

Bassem: The Sedan and wagon foci are made in Michigan, but the ZX3 is made in Mexico.
YellowR592: The foci are stocked, but dont have many option configurations, and half the people are ordereing theirs. I went in on Saturday to look at them and went home Tuesday with my ZX3. I was torn between a focus and a l coupe imprreza, finally decided to get the focus. |

I know that the UK is getting a Cosworth version but they also recently got a factory turbo'd Focus. It was 215hp FWD and looked fairly decent. The people from Top Gear said they liked it but it had a butt load of torque steer. The front end and hood on it looked nothing like a factory car to me. I wonder if hte US will see the turbo non-Cosworth version? The same episode had some really nice looking Alfa.

) - Decided on the soobie instead even though the zx3 is quicker 0-60cheers Jeff Good to see that the US is finally getting another European Ford - and not the usual Tempo's, Taurus, Thunderchicken, rustangs, etc etc ....... Now if we can just convince them to send us Cosworth Escorts ![]() |

Focus is a nice car, but i don't go much for the styling.
I hope the new subie body styling keeps it round and not edgy like most are doin! |
