Post Ran 1st Solo II today

I ran my '00 RS in my first Solo II today at Hollywood Park. The last time I ran one of these, we just called them Autocrosses. I ran a '63 MG and later, a '66 Mustang 289, yeah, I'm an old guy, though not a grandfather. Anyway, the RS was lots of fun, bone stock, with 42/36 air in the RE92s. The car sild the tail more than I expected, from 3000 miles of street driving. It was a tight course, about 1 mile long, 2ng gear all the way. I improved 2 seconds from 1st to 3rd lap (cone free). I experimented by dropping the fronts down to 40 psi on the last lap and got my best time. The car wasn't power limited as I thought it might be. My last car was a '90 Talon turbo awd, that somehow I never got around to autocrossing. Did run Willow Springs school once though. Anyway, it was a great day, even if I was 20 sec. behind the preped Miata that was the best time I saw. I beat a nice A4, but got beat by a Contour and an Intrigue (!) Fun Though.
Did anyone get a photo of red RS #631? My email is slight6729@aol.com if you got any. Thanks.

I ran my first on sat @ camden. Good to see Microsurf and Matt C and Boxerman.

Needless to say, I'm hooked. I did pretty well considering I have an '88 XT6 bone stock.

Anyway thanks to everyone who said to do it.

I was going to ask you guys how it went down there in Camden? I see they haven't posted the results yet. Normally they are up pretty quickly for the SJR events.

For the addicted, there is a North Jersey event at Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ this Saturday.

Mmmmm 289 Mustang.
I autocrossed my '65 mustang a couple times before I realized that it totally sucked. Four wheel drum brakes don't make for very much fun on a race track. But the automatic wasn't too bad. I found that I could do the entire course with it locked in first. It has pretty tall highway gears in the rear end. I still have it and have had evil thoughts of chopping it up and turning it into a CP car. But I'll probably just restore it and sell it for a huge profit.
The RS is a lot of fun, and pretty comptitive. Race tires wil help a lot of course, but you already knew that.

must get more auto-x time in... Too bad I'm going to MI next weekend or I'd be down @ Englishtown (it's like 20 minutes from my house).

I'm totally addicted.
