Post my02 impreza wrx....bad idea

if the projected price of this car is $25k it would be a complete bust. if the rumors are true about the new z-car and rx-7 the "wrx" will become a overpriced waste of space at most of your local sube dealers

Your opinion has been noted.

Now...how come you just didn't post this in any of the other 1000 threads about the price of the upcoming rex?

riiiiiiiight

25k is to much for a car that does 0 to 60 in under 6 seconds, has awd and is one of the best handling cars in the world....stock, then can be easily tweaked to 300 plus hp.
ur right that is a rip off, think ill just get the ITR for the same price.
or an s4, with similar performance but for for 20k more.

If you want trouble...

Well, the RS is about $20k, & with the added refinements & improvements in handling & power, an additional $5k sounds reasonable. The car doesn't compete with the Z or an RX7 because those two are sports cars while the WRX is a sports sedan or a sports wagon.

well to add a little more fuel to the fire...the new z car is expected to be the premiere sports car in the world...and with a almost guaranteed price tag of under30k it seems like a better bargin (car) than the wrx

Quote:
From the April 1'st Autoweek And the new Kia Rio Type RS-T will have a 7.6L Cummins Turbo diesel an 8 speed Getrag tranny with both Hi and Lo for the Full time 6 wheel drive while sporting new 13x10" rims with 295/25/13 Z+ rated tires. Stopping power for this tree stump pulling Kia will be from 16 pot titanium calipers and "your moms best china" ceramic rotors. This Performance Kia is rumored to cost a measly $100 more than the base Rio and accellerate at a heart stopping 0-60mph in only 19 seconds and a 1/4 mile in a blazing fast 25.3 seconds at a whopping 71mph.
Wow sure makes me want to buy one just like that Z the pure ultimate sports car for only $30K.

BTW the acceleration of 0-60 in 5.9 is for the current @215hp new WRX in the UK and AU.

But hey thanks for pointing out that the japanese sports car invasion is making its way back to the US right as Honda seems to be going backwords.

What do you mean by premier sports car in the world? Surely you aren't implying that this vehicle is going to be the best sports car in the world. Under $30,000 too, damn what's Bill Gates spending millions trying to get a couple of 959's into this country for. He can just wait a few years and get the premier sports car for a fraction of the cost.

On a more serious note, the new Z is RWD. The WRX will probably be about the same weight, with AWD. The WRX will also have a lower center of gravity, thanks to its boxer 4. The WRX will be cheaper, and have more room inside. If the new Z is below 30k, it won't be by much. Assuming Nissan does a good job on the chassis, they should have similar structual rigidity. The Z will most defidently have better straight line performance, but in the handling dept, I'd predict the WRX will be better(AWD,low CG,great chassis, fairly light weight, etc). It all depends on what you wan't. If it snows where you live and you want a year round vehicle, I'd defidently stay away from the RWD. The WRX's engine being designed for turbo makes it very easily tunable straight off the showroom floor. I'd defidently take a WRX over the next Z. However, if I lived in a warm area, I'd be tempted to consider the next rotary car from Mazda over the WRX(they're suposedly either going to build a vehicle based off the RX-Evolve concept car, or scrap that idea and use the 280hp renesis engine to power the next RX-7).

true there are a lot of other cars in the states that can out perform the new z but i thought they were considered exotics? ne how i have never seen snow in my life...but the idea of a wagon (a small one..but still 5-doors) beating a domestic beast (v-8) at a stop light is very tempting...that is y i am considering the new wrx wagon

Question

So you're going to get a WRX wagon when they come out? But didn't you say that the guesstimated $25G price made it "a (sic) overpriced waste of space at most of your local sube dealers"?

Eh?
