Default Mystery sensor under dash?

This would be on an 01 5MT RS.

Just noticed this sensor dangling and have no idea whats its for as the clutch sensor is attached.

Anyone?

When we were installing the subs in MY03 WRX 5MT we found a green wire (not sure if this is the same wire you're talking about) and hooked it up to the corresponding harness, just to see. All I know is that it threw a CEL and we disconnected it. So I am interested to see what this is too

Doesn't look factory to me.
Is that the valet switch for the alarm, I think that's where they put them on the GCs.

Spoolin, the green connectors you found and plugged together are for a diagnostic mode and are supposed to be left disconnected. If you hook them up the CEL will flash continuously and the ECU will cycle various devices on and off, including the radiator fans.

Thats what I was thinking as mine has no factory alarm. The weird thing is though, theres a plastic connector in the fuse try that goes along with it making me think at one point it was hooked up somewhere.

Default looks like the program button for alarm/keyless entry unit

looks like the programming button for keyless entry/alarm. That does look factory to me. Basically you'd use it to add or change new remotes to the car by holding in the button.

This would explain my suddenly iffy keyless entry remotes.
