You can give Sean a call over at Suby Specialties. He makes them by special order in groups of 5 for the N/A cars. Maybe if you guys generate enough interest he'd fabricate one for the WRX?

Alpha_32 - The rims are a work in progress. Trying to get some Advan Model 6 or 7 but the shop I'm going through is lagging .

piker28 - Yeah it is a K&N.

Just curious, with a filter that exposed what happens when it rains, and how often do you have to clean it?

If the AIT sensor is the one that goes into the stock air box, then I just put some rubber tubing around it and connected it to the one of the Intake holes. As for the rain, I haven't had any problem with water yet and it rained pretty hard a couple of weeks ago down in Socal. I try to reoil/clean the filter every 5000 miles just to keep it in good condition.

Yo guys, this car looks awesome in the pics, but it seriously looks a lot better in real life. It's nice to see more subarus representing around UCSD. Great job man! Oh and about this intake for WRXs, that would be awesome if we can get it going.

wouldn't you lose some torque with this setup? like putting just a cone filter on the throttle opening??

i think i would rather have a real top mount intercooler for mine , but at least it would make the hoodscoop on my car functional. hehe..

this has been a big argument and no one has really done research

but supposingly the tube bend that comes after the filter is supposed to save your torque and thats what makes it different from just having a cone there

I think someone made a thread about putting a real top mount intercooler and practially everyone agreed that it wasn't too bright of an idea, just like the cone filter directly placed on the throttle body. As for the torque loss, I didn't feel any after replacing my Ganz, but it could be minor enough that it's not noticeable. I feel that it pulls quite a bit harder than my Ganz though.

Ram-air firebirds and camaros have no problem, and they come stock with a paper air filter.

I don't think rain water affects the engine, in the long term at least. You may lose some performance during a rain storm, but in order to hydrolock the engine, I think that the intake must be completely submerged in water.

In other words, as long as there's air to combust, it should be fine.

Thumbs up

That is perhaps the first GD bodied Impreza I've seen with a Gravelsports intake. Cool beans!!

No loss of low end torque...actually a gain. That was the whole point when Sean designed the intake for himself (later he made some for us to buy because we whined so much).
