I have the same set of conditions but from a different source.
That is , a check engine light and a flashing cruise control light with cruise control being inoperative. I merely hit a very bad bump in the road. I have a code reader due to arrive on Monday. Not sure this if this code will help you. I will doing some trouble shooting during the week.

Since you have a downpipe, that's probably the CEL for cat inefficiency...or you might have overboosted due to boost creep. You almost certainly need one of these:

Just curious. How does that affect the cruise control?I mean making it inoperative? I would think such a condition would effect maintaining cruise control once engaged but prevent engagement at all?

I got my code reader today. My code was P0447
Evaporative Emissions Control system Vent control open circuit.
Zola Rex is probably correct. Again this code was produced
with a CEL on, Cruise Control light flashing and the cruise control is inoperative.
In my case it was intermittent meaning I would get it for a few days and then it
would go away but then come back again.

Just to clarify I have been told that the cruise control issue is not in of itself a pivotal symptom. In the STI they flash the cruise light to indicate the presence of certain trouble codes in addition to the CEL.
