Thumbs up Cool/Funny RS sighting

Well, I just hit my 1000 mile mark on the 2000 RS. So now I can officially start to have serious fun in that car. It feels solid, quick, and is a total blast...

I hit 1000 while driving out near Danville, CA. I was heading North on 680...cruising along a good fun speed...when I saw another silver RS pull onto the freeway. Of course I had to slow down and let it catch up...to say hello and all that. So I pulled over and slowed down...and soon enough there it was, right beside me.

And who was driving that silver 4 door RS? A little old lady! She was old enough to be my grandmother!!! But she had a huge grin on her face and gave me a honk and a wave. Too cool.

So I suppose there is no boundary among us RS owners...too fun!

I was telling my Grandma that she should get a RS. She liked that it was AWD. I am not sure if I would let her maybe a Legacy/Outback/Forester.

(She is going to have me help her pick out her next car)

I wonder if she only drives it to church on sundays. Maybe she'll leave it to her grandson in her will.

Cool

I can see it now...

Salesman: Well, ma'am, we carry a full line of Outbacks and Legacy GTs in your spending range.

Old Lady: Do you have anything that does 0-60 in 8s? What about turbos?

Salesman: Uh, hm...

Old Lady: Need a rear spoiler too. And some fog lights. Big fog lights. I want those punk Honda kids down the block to know when I'm coming home.

Salesman: Ulp.

My grandmother just got a v-6 Accord...and proceeded to get two speeding tickets in a week. Her words...

"I just didn't know I was going fast!"

Gotta love Grandma....

I followed a red 2.5 RS coupe for a couple of miles on the way home the other day (colorado springs).

Finally, as it was making a turn, I pulled along side to see an old guy driving it. Couldn't tell if he still had his teeth or not, he was that old, but it was funny seeing that.

I imagine that I will still be driving fun cars when I'm that old, and then all the young whipper-snappers will be laughing at me too.

My wife says I'm still a child at 38 years...

Larry, those young whippersnappers are already looking at you wondering if you have your teeth or not! After reading some of the replies in the "venting teenage anger" post, I start feeling really old! The average member age must be somewhere around 22! Let's see, at 22 I was driving a 1979 Fiat 128 Coupe with 50HP and a four speed stick. The only performance mod I could afford was to take off the air pump belt. It did have a spoiler on the rear hatch and lots of stickers (factory stripes)though and when I wore out the 145/80-13 Pirelli P3s I put on HUGE 175/70-13 Continentials! Boy was I hot stuff or what?

Well do you want your Impreza to be a punk car or a mature person's car?

Yeah, when I was 22 I went from a 1977 Toyota Celicia GT hatch to a 1983 Mazda 626, an old fogies car...

Both cars would do about 120 top speed though. I had to test them myself...
