Your NASIOC Administrator How do I search for used engine?

http://car-part.com/ Has a great list of wrecking yards and stuff, but for some reason it doesn't have an option for searching out engines from older Outbacks. I'm trying to find good prices on a Phase 1 DOHC engine for my 90 legacy. Does anyone know how I can go about searching http://car-part.com/ for outback parts?

(btw, I would go with phase 2 but aparently isn't easy to get in my car whereas phase1 works off of stock ecu)

thanks!

Default McDade-

I'm looking for outback models, not Legacy GT. The Phase 1 engine is bad enough with head gaskets, so getting a Legacy gt one would be certain that it's been hammered on. I want a phase 1 engine from an outback granny used to own. I'll change the HG myself, but want an engine that hasn't been torn an new one.

hey man you do realize that until 2000 or so, Outback was a trim level of Legacy?

Legacy L/GT Engine = Legacy Outback Engine

Ohhh I seeeeee. Duh! I'm stupid.

When did they start building the DOHC phase 1 into the outback? Wasn't that in 95-96? Thanks!

BTW, after seeing the prices for 2.2 turbos (the same as 2.5 na) I think my goal has just changed. I would be more than happy with putting a turbo into my car for under $1000. All I would then need is the stock 2.2 turbo ECU (under $50 used) and I'm set!

there is no phase one motor in any outback.

thats what i was trying to explain.

The Outback line up was introduced in IIRC 2000, as whtlegacy already stated.

you will only find a phase 1 DOHC 2.5 in legacy outbacks pre99

And in the 98 impreza RS

oh and the turbo legacy motor (91-94) would be a great idea as it is the strongest motor subaru ever sent to the us with its closed deck design, it can handle mucho boost

1996 Outback: First year for the 'real' Outback. Also first year for the 2.5L engine, which in '96 runs on premium fuel and is only available with an automatic transmssion.

1997 Outback Engine: 2.5 liter DOHC fuel injected 4 cylinder 16 Valve boxer engine , 165 horsepower, 162 Ft lbs torque

the GT also had 2.5L phase I (GT's DOHC's - 99 model year - there was a model break mid year) as did the OBK's and the other legacy models from 1996 - 1999'ish

my 99 GT was a phase I DOHC (and the HG went at 56k)
