Unhappy My girlfriend crashed this morning...

No, don't worry, she doesn't have an Impreza. She slid on some ice on her way to work and hit a tree dead on in her Nissan Altima. Thank god she's O.K. Both air bags went off and everything. Some guy in a truck hit the same patch of ice two minutes later and hit a telephone pole. Needless to say she is really upset, and so was I. No she is very concerned about her insurance because it's not her first accident. Her lease is up in June and I want her to get all-wheel-drive (i.e. an Impreza). She thinks she can't afford one, but I told her I would help her out. Anyone know if insurance is cheaper with an all-wheel-drive car? My insurance is pretty cheap but I have two cars on my policy (1991 Mustang coupe). Do you think I'd be able to get her a good deal on a 2001 Subaru in June? Give me suggestions, please. Thanks for listening.

Here in TX it is actualy more expensive for AWD. They count it like 4 wheel drive on a truck. I guess since it is AWD they figure you are more likely to run it into a ditch having fun in offroad. Sorry i dont know about colder climates. Im glad she is OK.

Man I know the feeling. Last summer my girlfriend was t-boned in her civic after some moron in an old bonneville ran the red light, I was terrified untill I found out that she was going to be ok. My insurance is higher than my dad's (he has a 2wd leagacy). But I would think that my having AWD would be some sort of safety feature. Insurance makes no sense sometimes.

Similar thing happened to my g/f. Actually, she got rear-ended by someone who slid on ice and couldn't stop on time. Both cars are ok, except my g/f's car's back-up (the white ones) light is broken. Easy to fix. That's about it. Instead going to her school, she went home and called me instead.

Drew, she was on Woodbury Road, heading for Huntington High School where she teaches. She called me and went home.

Wink

all you have to do is buy a 4 door to lower the insurence.

anyway a couple look more like sport car, but in this case here a 4 door will help.

Glad shes ok. All i know about the insurance is that its cheaper to have the four door sedan than to have a two door coupe

AWD is considered a safety feature on my insurance... They gave me lower rates on it...

Glad she is ok.
I went from a 97 Honda Civic EX,(don't hate me, I really hated that car) to a MY 01 Impreza RS 2 door and my rates went down. And I have higher limits on my coverage. Am I lucky or what?
