Angry Hopping Mad!!!

Okay, I've been waiting since January for my Baja-T to come in. I went in early Jan and put down my deposit for one and was told it would be in by the end of Jan. A week later that was pushed out to early April. Today, I was told that this would again be pushed out to the end of the Month. Has anyone else had this much trouble? The dealer swears that his Rep at Subaru is a waste of space and is more than likely the cause off all of this frustration. I am so close to pulling my deposit and going another route, but still really want the Baja-T. Any thoughts?

I drove from Houston to Dallas to get my 2004 Baja Turbo Black Granite Pearl 5-sp... And on top of that, I bought it off Ebay... It was worth every effort!!!

Things I Love about my Baja-T:
1) smooth ride on highway
2) truck like bed for ocassional use
3) very torque-ie (can pass on highway without down shifting)
4) sleeper at stop-lights
5) instant adrenline rush when needed
6) FUN FACTOR!!!!

Good Luck CadillacJake....

Jake, we've been following your saga and i definately think you should go elsewhere.

Either this dealer isn't seen as a priority for allocations and is somewhat telling you the truth, or they feel that since you've waited this long, you'll continue to wait til it possibly arrives sometime in the future. If i wanted your business i'd be keeping you updated and get that Baja T in your garage ASAP or let you know straight up that there's no way to get it as soon as you want it. These people obviously don't see you the same way and you should cut them loose.

Seek out another Baja T or FXT that you can pounce on, then go to this dealer that is leading you on, and pull your deposit. They'll either panic(doubtful) and say they'll try and get it within the next two weeks or will give you as much attention/service as they have thus far, zero.

I've never waited for an ordered vehicle, always buy what's on lot. But that's just me. Cars are the worst investment and this most recent purchase of our Baja was because my Volvo was totalled a month earlier.

I say go elsewhere.

www.sojax.com
www.mastrosubaru.com
www.subaruofgwinett.com

I personally know people employed at all three of these dealers. The first dealer is over in Jacksonville, Fl, second is in Tampa, Fl, and third is just northeast of Atlanta in Duluth, Ga.

Each also has at least one Baja turbo on the lot and they will work to find what you need. If you want contact information for any of them, send me a PM. I know there is a somewhat limited run of Baja turbos so its possible that they are stringing you along, however I know you've been waiting for some time now.

Hope this helps,
Matt

Come to Denver and pick it up, then drive back. By the time you get home, you're done with your break-in! The catch is, you can't use a cruise on the way there

A dealer I got it from (Denver) has 2 - silver Baja Turbo and white/silver Baja Turbo, both of which look good! Seriously, I feel your pain. I was like that between April 03 ~ December 03.

I'm trying to get a reply from Gwinett, actually. They have a black/grey 5-speed turbo in stock that I have tried to make them an offer on.

I ordered my Baja on Sept. 15th, 2002 and I had to wait till November 21, 2002 it really shouldn't take more time than that to get one. I understand about waiting but that is really long. Although it really depends on what you ordered to get on your baja. For some reason it took me longer cuz I was getting a manual.
Sorry to hear about your troubles.

Default Update

Okay, I hashed it out with one of their managers today and settled a few things. Since I had to turn down a chance or two at selling my Jeep while I waited on the Baja, the dealer is going to give me my choice of the lot as a driver until the Turbo actually comes in. Two, they're bypassing their normal supply chains and are going to get me some sort of a priority allocation on the Turbo, which apparantly there was an order-restriction on that just lifted.
BajaGirl, I agree. It's a pain to get a stick shift anymore. What's the world coming to? I was on another dealer lot yesterday where they had three Vettes, ALL AUTOS!!! Eesh, what's wrong with people Oh well, I WILL have mine.

I ordered mine a month ago and it is coming in a few days. My dealer never told me about order restrictions and said it had just come off the assembly line. Maybe yours is hanging out with mine!!
and yes it is a turbo 5spd (blue too!!!!)

I'm not sure I'm being told the whole story. The manager mentioned that his predecessor there had really let a lot of things pile up. Sales people were ordering cars, but orders weren't actually being placed. He said he will look into it and get back with me this AM.

04Turbogurl, it was your order that prompted me to return to the dealership. I had hoped that it was a production delay and that they would say that it was en route as we speak. But no. So when I hear that someone else had a nice, smooth, and confirmed order go through with a delivery date, I was out for someone's head. That's cool, in the months this has all taken I've saved more money for the down pmt than my trade would ever have been worth. I just don't like the runaround. Had they told me that hey, things are a little messed up right now and it'll be mid-late April, I could have gone elsewhere or just hung out and waited. But no news is not good news.

Default Have your dealer trade for what you want

I pick up my '04 Baja T tonight after the dealer took a $330 deposit almost 2 months ago. They called 2 weeks ago and told me the factory wasn't going to be producing any more of what I ordered. I don't trust the factory, but I do trust the dealer b/c they called dealers all up and down the East Coast to find what I wanted and then sent up a driver to get it (from Pittsburgh back to NOVA).

They got exactly what I wanted and they made no money off the deal! I got a Black Granite/Onyx sportshift with Bed Extender, Trailer Hitch, Splashguards, Security Upgrade, Air Filtration, Wheel Locks, Bed Cargo Net, Rubber Mats and Hood Air Deflector for $24, 118! Unbelieveable. MSRP is well above $27K! And 0% financing! They even took delivery of my Snuglid for me. Stohlman Subaru really did a job for me.

Have your dealer check the inventories of nearby (within 300 miles) and show you the printouts. You can already check local inventories through your dealer's site - at least I can here in NOVA.

Reserved my plate last week... TWO-FER...

They say they've located one and it should be here soon. I picked up an '03 Camry to abuse while I wait. Great deal on yours, though. I ordered a 5-speed turbo with the bed extender, auto-mirror, and subwoofer for $23,250; you got a great deal.

Holy batman! That is an incredible deal you got! Is there any other changes in 05 MY other than "05" on paper? Or that is THE change?

Would you take a picture of your hood air deflector? I'm still debating getting one even after I put on Clearbra. I also have black, so it'll give me a definate go/no-go if I can look at yours.

Sweet deal!
