Post Please Help - Rally Cross Info needed!

I am trying to convince my friend who owns a Motocross track to let us have a Rally Cross there. Now obviously we aren't going to have it on the Motocross course but he has some land around it that we could use!

My problem is convincing him and his partner that this is a good Idea. I need links and information about Organizing a Rally Cross. Stories about how you wrecked your car or knew this guy who knew this guy who died RallyXing are NOT helpful. Please relate any information about Course Design and Organization that you have

If we get some good info we could have a great Rally-X in Georgia!

hey, subie gal, you're link doesn't work. i'm also in the process of trying to organize a rally-x for next year so i'm interested in the above info as well. please try to drop me an email w/useful tips at
frey@fourthorbit.com
the server has been having problems lately so a message may get bounced. if this happens, i'm sorry. just pm me in that case (or instead, i don't care). i really am serious about organizing an event in the midwest, hopefully with the help of the scca and mwsoc (midwest subaru owners club). anything you could enlighten me to would be of a great help since trying to motivate the key people here seems to have alot of inertia

Thanks for the response Subie Gal. I appreciate any help but I was really hoping for someone closer who could possibly come to the event. Is there anybody in the Southeast who would like to help?

I too have been wanting to get a rally-x set up here in the midwest, but no luck so far... It seems that the intrest is low... except amoung the SUBARU crowd.

I could use any info also and hope to get enough snow to have a snowCross this winter.

Thanks - omahasubaru@hotmail.com

Oh man that looks like so much fun! Way more fun than regular autocross too. Too bad I live in CT where are the farms are being turned into subdivisions.

Anyone know of Rallycrosses in the Northeast (MA, CT, RI, Southern VT)?

omahasubaru-
i will be discussing the matter with the StL SCCA in january. hopefully this will be enough time for the MWSOC to get its act together but if not, screw them (of course, i'm them, doh). i'm sick of talk and i will be tring to organize an event as soon as possible (probably in spring). i'll keep you posted.

yes 10th... but considering where I live in comparison.. I'd still like all the info you have so I can get it going up here in Omaha, NE. I'd really like to not have to drive so far to play in the dirt... legally.

I'll see what I can do up here.. keep the info coming.. Is there a rule book out there for RallyX in the SCCA or anything?

Thanks

I mind as well let the cat out of the bag.

I'm on my way to putting together a rally-x track up here in PA too, that is why I asked for all that info before too.

Could someone e-mail me someone I can speak to up here in the northeast who works for the scca? Also, any other info for rally-x'ing is appreciated.

you will need...
SCCA approval and insurance
waiver forms
rented porta potties
rented water truck (trust me on this)
at least enough room for 1 mile layout of road
100's of cones
signs, stakes, indicators

that's a good start....
