Angry I'm going crazy(venting some teenage anger)

ARGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

Well I'm 15 now and I'll be getting my permit soon which I'm happy about, but I am coming to a painful relization that it may be a long while before I get my subie. As of now I have about $600 enough to buy an exhaust.....unfortunatly not enough for an actual car. I don't have a job, but i hope to get one soon. even if I do get one the very earliest I could afford an used impreza would be in a year an a half!!!!!!!a year and a half!!!! that is 18 months..at the earliest. I hope to have $6000 dollars by then. enough for a serious down payment! but that is still along ways away. I hear people complaining about how it takes them months before they get thier car. A single tear rolls down my cheek for them
Then after 1 1/2 years is over I have to find a used MY00 sedan in Blue ridge pearl or silverthorn. ARGGGGHHHH!!!!!! and I everytime I go on this board is a strange type of torture.....becuase I love imprezas but can have one!! At least I know what I want to do with it: asr stage 1, asylumns body kit, headlight conversion, brospeed exhuast, and some interior mods. well I've vented long enough, so next time your car is taking a long time in the shop or whatever think of ME, and whenever I'm upset I'll think of starving children in bosnia, or something like that...

Hey, give me a break!!
You are 15(!!!), what do you want?
How about growing up first. Unless you are rich or your parents pay for everything you have to get used to it that things are expensive and that you can't have them. Geez, I'm 32, engineer, make a decent living and still can't have it all. Get used to it, that's life!!
How about get a job first and after you worked your butt off you will rethink if the muffler/sticker or whatever is really worth the money, mostly its not.
Geez...

Marius, I think you were alittle ruff on him.
But honestly, get a beater car for you first one. I know if I had my Impreza when I was 17, I would have crashed it. Get a big old Chevy Nova or something, so you do not have to care about paint, etc..
I had a 77 Nova with a 305 V8 for my first car, and had some of the best nights of my life driving around in it. Save your money, save on insurance, and have a good time.

Don't worry, high school life blazes by pretty fast. You may want to start out with a $1000 car first while you're this young. Trust me, almost every teen will have a fender bender(at the very least) and you don't want to do that with a beautiful car like an Impreza.

Get some experience driving your own car : learning to anticipate what goes on around you in traffic takes time. I thought I knew it all when I was in high school. What I knew then about driving is just a fraction of what I know now. You'll go through road rage and eventually learn to avoid it. There's lots of things you need to learn. Just be patient, get a cheap little used car and once you're ready to own an Impreza, your Impreza will certainly appreciate you for it.

It's not the Impreza that needs to be handled well, it's really YOU getting to know the traffic and how to react to it safely.

Just my advice.

c'mon guys give him a break..he's just opting to reach his goals..seems like he's set to get his impreza...as for the stereotyping of kids...yes most of them are punks and yes if most of them had imprezas ..they would either be riced out to the max (i.e impreza type R) but there are a few of us that actually have a brain large enough to realize responsibility...how old am i? i am 17...yup 17 (seventeen)..and so far i've kept my head straight..i've had the car for 3 months now (5200kms)(my00) do i drive the hell out of it? no..but i do give her here and there..do i try to race everybody in the city? no..actually people try and taunt me..do i snap? no cuz i kno the only real threat would be something better than a civic dx type R..like an sir (american SI) or another modified RS..or even some other punk teen in a 5.0. The point is is that i had a dream of owning an rs(@14 years old)...and i did my homework before i even bought the car..infact i surprised most of the guys at the dealership with my knowledge of the impreza..i've had some of them ask where i get some of my things..remember i'm 17...but that doesn't mean all 17 year olds are punks..follow ur dream Chase "imprezive" Smith ..for god sakes ur a scooby specialist..so u've been here doin ur homework as well..so to everybody who reads this don't knock chase..he's bound to be a great impreza owner.....for the record yes i have a job and no i didn't "chong" out my RS

*deep breath*....damn that was long

yes start out with a beater! i drove an 89 escort WAGON with blue reverse lights and a K&N sticker...learn the basics of the road and get a little experience out there...its alright to rice out the beater but don't rice out the rs..pleeease heheh i got my rice phase out while driving the wagon (and it still runs too...did't smash it up tho)

think of it as goin from "rags to riches" thats how i felt when i got the rs

Hey Chase,
I was 19 when I got my RS. This was not my first car, but it is my first new car. I am a full time student and need transportation and I need freedom. I feel good for having bought the RS, and I wish anybody to get an RS! It's secure, good looking and it has AWD.
I wish you good luck in your quest for the Impreza, and maybe it's just a fad, and you'll finish by buying a total different car. I know I had my eye on a lot of different cars before buying the RS, and to this day, I am happy for buying the RS.
Good Luck!

I didn't even own a car until I graduated from college and had a job! And that was a 5 year old Fiat 850 that cost $650. I don't get this obbsession with car ownership at such a young age - you get a job so you can afford a car, and then you have to work all the time to pay for it! You'll get enough of work later, enjoy the freedom you have now. Use your parents car if you need to - it's practically free! Youth is wasted on the young!

Thumbs up

Wow! You guy need to lighten up. I'm only 18 And I'm trying to get a my00. I quit my last job so I wouldn't be able to make payments for a new car right now. And insurance is a B!*%# if your a single male under 25.
Imprezive, Follow your dreams, It will pay off in the end. I wish I had know about the Impreza three years ago. I would have already goten one! But you really should buy a POS so you can learn how to drive. IMO If you are going to get a 5-speed, It's better to learn on a crappy car so you will be alot smoother with the impreza, and you won't have to worry about banging it up if you hit a curb or something. I'm still driving a 91 Legacy lsi but I haven't got in any accidents ( that my insurance knows about ) You should learn the rules of the road before you rule the road.

Hey Imprezive,

Don't let anyone on this BB steal your dreams. There were alot of things I wanted and couldn't have when I was your age. And believe me I agonized over it just like you are doing now. It drove me nuts. But in retrospect...I have to say I'm glad my first car was not an RS. It was a Escort and I beat the living ***** out of it. It wasn't until a couple of cars later that I really learned to respect cars. (And no I didn't wreck any of them either!)
Some people would say patience is a virtue...but I will spare you in this case because I am almost going nuts right now waiting for the turbo Impreza and I don't even know if I can afford it!
But I still keep dreaming...and saving!

I would have to agree with most people who are saying that an Impreza isn't the best first car. I started at 16 with an '87 Toyota Van, that tought me a lot about driving. I am very very glad that I had that before my RS. It tought me a lot about driving in the year and a half and 40k miles that we went through. I think that if you were to buy an escort or something first, then drive it for a year or so, you would be glad that you did. I tought myself all about performance driving in my van, learning how to control drifts, best lines through a turn, ext. Believe me, if you can do it in a vehicle like that, you will be able to figure it out in an RS pretty easily, plus when you screw up, you wreck something other than an RS. Don't get me wrong, Do not give up on the dream of an RS!!(Previously in all caps) just put it on hold. In a few years, you will be able to get one. I am 19, married, buying a house, buying a car (another one for my wife soon), working full time, and starting college soon. What is my poiint? If you want it that bad, you will be able to get one, it just might be better to wait, and save.

Shaun

P.S. Just don't get a Honda or Acura while you wait for an RS!

Edit: Change those all caps!!!

I just saved up and bought my first vehicle, its not a Impreza, but it would have been if I didn't get $5000 off a GM vehicle becos my dad's discount. I bought a 00 Chevy S10 extended cab WideTrack. Talk about a truck, I get smiles on my face from just looking at it when I walk up to it to jump in. I spent alot of hard earned money on this damn truck, so don't let anyone tell you your to young or spoiled or whatever. But take this advice, I know it would be great if your parents bought you a RS, hell I would like it, but I'm telling you, you will not appreciate it as much as you would if you work your ass off and buy it yourself. I'm almost 24 and this is my 1st new vehicle, my last was a used crappy 87 Toyota. So save your pennies, you'll get your toy one day

Hey imprezive,
Do not get me wrong. I was not trying to take a crap on your dreams. I am going to be 25 now, but when I was in high school my dream was to finish building my 72 Oldsmobile, and have it run in the 13's with a 350 ci engine, and take it to the prom all painted.
I never finished it, I actually still have it. I was responsible, and worked very hard to pay for the mods on that car. I think it is great that you want an Impreza, and I think you should try. I would just not dive into it so fast. Maybe shoot for summer before senior year. I actually (my not responsible moment)crahsed my fathers car (90 Ford Probe LX, 2 years old at the time) by hitting a curb trying to drive over my limits, and the cars. $4000 dollars later, 2 mad parents, and me walking for 2 months with a big headache, and almost scaring two passengers to death,I had learned my lesson. I just do not want to see that happen to you and your nice new Impreza. Even if you are not dangerous, the more some high school punk knows you love that car, the more of a target it is. Someone will screw it up at a party. You know what I am saying? I just would rather have a car I did not have to worry about, or work my ass off like crazy to pay for (I missed out on alot if experiences because I was working on the Olds, or trying to pay for it). Enjoy friends, and high school with a decent peice of transportation. Thats all..
Good luck following your dream, I am partial to White Impreza 2 door RS's.
All you young guys with Impreza, I envy you. I would have loved to have a nice car like that in school, good luck to ya, and try not to get any tickets!

So I'm the bad guy now or what?
I was 15 , too and had dreams, so I know how it is quite well. But try to stay real, that's all I'm saying. I don't envy young kids having nice cars, most of them drive good and fast without crashing. JPMoney was the fastest in STS last week until I had a lucky lap, he's 18 or so and drives very good.
It's just strange that kids at 15 complain about not having a car that (plus turbo) is car of the year in england. That's just too bad, isn't it.
Dreaming, fine pi@#$ing and moaning, thats too much.
I might be getting old, too.

When I was about to get my license my dad brought home a new eagle talon 16v gt or whatever and I was blown away because I wasnt sure I would be getting a car. Well I drove it for a night with my dad and my two best friends, It was so cool I cant tell you how good that was. The next day my dad called our insurance man and found out it was going to be like 3grand a year and promptly took the car back. I got an used accord four door instead. I wasnt all that bumed because I figured the talon wasnt meant to be. The accord was a better first car and man did I get good at driving that thing I could shift it like a champ although I tell you it takes a long time and alot of pizzas to get good on a standard.

Youl live if you dont get your first pick and you will also appreciate your first new car that you really buy yourself, I mean like when your totally supporting yourself and not just working for car payments.

Hmmmmmm... my very first car (as painful as it is to admit it) was given to me when I was 15 (so I could fix it so it'd be ready by the time I was 16). It was an 81 AMC Eagle SX4. Basically a Volkswagen Rabbit on steroids with a lift kit and 4 wheel drive. Broke it in two weeks doing clutch drops (couldn't keep a driveshaft together to save myself). It is now a coffee table.

After that I had an 82 Volvo GL (ooohhh leather... too bad it took 10 minutes to merge onto the highway).

After that I got an 80 Volvo GT. I had that car for about 8 months before I got out of high scool (year 3 cars before I even turned 18).

Now I'm 2 cars up on that and wishing I had found an older one so I wouldn't have so high of payments.

Honestly, if you are trying to get a scoob so quick, go get yourself into one of those Mazda GTX's (wasn't that what those were called?). AWD and turbo but old and looked like a VW Rabbit. Hell, I'd be interested in one cause it sounds like it'd be cool to off-road in, LOL.

Marius, I'm with you. Its ok for kids to dream, and to aspire for things, but don't be mad about not getting things you "want". I mean ****, when I was 15, I was hoping my parents would LET me buy a car (let alone a $20,000 car). Guess what, they didn't. I drove the family minivan for 2 years. Finally, as a senior in HS, I begged my dad to let me buy a car. So he let me, and I drove that 86 Olds POS for about 2 months before I totaled it. Now what, no car again. Six months later, my Dad felt like getting a new car so I got his 85 VW Golf. Drove that for two years (no accidents, one ticket) and finally, when I was 20, I was able to ditch the Golf and put money down on the RS. Now I work to pay for and insure the car. However, I can appreciate the car. I love it, and I remember the days of having the Olds stall on me on the highway, the days of bumming rides, and the days my VW decided not to start. And when I think back on that, it makes me even more fond of my RS.

All I'm saying is that with your first post, you sounded like a little whiney child. Lots of people work hard for their cars and it angers them to hear a 15 year old kid whine about not having an Impreza with a body kit and a turbo.

Imprezive, If you want it and you are willing to work for it, then ***** go for it!!! I (personal opinion) just dont like seeing people with mommy and daddy buying them the car, but thats probably because I would to have liked that, so I am just enyious
Since we are tellig stories,
I had a 87 Chevy NovA given to me, and I paid too much money to get that bitch fixed, and it got totaled by a stupid bi*** who wasnt paying attention and smached into me. Then I got a 87 integra (big upgrade! ) and that got the crap beat out of it from people knocking into me all the time. I have never caused and accident and no matter how old ur are someone is going to screw up ur car. Just be prepared for it. oH well..enough bsing....good luck with ur goal

I'm 18 myself, and I've got to say, wait for a couple of years. There is no way I could have afforded my RS when I was in high school. Even if I had put down $6000, the payments would still be too much, and insurance is spendy. Have fun in a beater. I think I've got the record for # of cars before 18.
1. '88 Escort GT 2. '82 Subaru GL 3. '69 Datsun 510 4. '71 Datsun 510 5. '82 Mazda GLC Sport 6. '72 Datsun 510 Wagon. I had a lot of fun with all of these cars. None of which made it onto my driving record. Be very careful.

A little story. 2 weeks ago a sold order RS coupe came in to our dealership. This guy was buying it for his son as a "reward" for getting his license. As I talked with the kid back when they ordered it I thought to myself, the way this kid acts the car won't last a week. Some of his statements were:
How will this car hang with a GT Mustang.
This is a really fast car right?
Can you make these cars have 300+ hp?
The best one:
I already beat a friend of mine in a race the day I got my license in his Z28 and I was in my dad's E320.

Needless to say, I get a call at the dealership yesterday. "Hi, this is Martin *******, my son wrecked his car last night streetracing. I need to get another one for him. I talked with the dad for about half an hour discussing what happened, where, the causes etc. By the way, the kid came out without a scratch.

On my way home last night I went through where the kid had wiped the car out and saw part of the car still in the creek (the rear spoiler or about 1/2 of it.) The kids dad said that he was doing aabout 80 according to the state trooper that did the report. The curve was NOT very steep AT ALL. I went back up the road and came blowing back through just as a test. 85 with no hint of instability. This has made me agree with those of you who said that the RS is NOT a good first car for a beginner driver, I wonder if it will be a good "second car" for a beginner.

I hope he doesn't wind up killing himself in the new one.

Hey there,

I agree.. be easy on the guy..

My first car was a 1.1 litre Ford.... cost me about 700.... I wrote the thing off twice... and repaired it.

I loved that car.. it was so much fun... perhaps more fun then my scoob... weird huh ?

Anyways... I had it for two years.... then it kinda got a bit damaged and I sold it for scrap... *oops*

At the time I wanted loads of fast good handling cars.... but the desire did made me work hard... it gave me a purpose.. something to aim for...

As such.. I have owned the majority of fast cars I wanted to over the years, by working hard.. *within reason - Maclaren F1 sometime in the future*

Now my aims and direction have changed... and settling down is important... Cars are second *just*

Anyways.... There is nothing wrong with dreaming for stuff you cant have...

Its all about owning a 'Beater' as your first car...You can rip and tear around in it (safely) and learn the skills before you get yourself a finely tuned automotive powerhouse like the Impreza. It would suck to crash a new car from inexperience. I had a few misshaps in my old pickup, and I learned what works and what doesn't, so I wouldn't 'Experiment' with my impreza. So You need to get yourself an experimental vehicle, and who knows...in a year or two you'll have enough for a WRX ...or find a rich uncle who'll pay cash and finance it to you with no intrest.

This message in no way premotes hellish teen driving.
