Post GM to own Subaru...

Calm down.. only 20% of it for now.. Did you guys know about this? I pulled it off of the Subaru Club of America's website:

"Nissan announced that it would sell its 4.1-percent stake in Fuji Heavy Industries to the Detroit automaker. The cost of the deal was not yet known. GM will also purchase another 1.07 billion in new Fuji Heavy shares in April in an effort to boost its stake in the company to 20 percent. The deal gives Fuji Heavy financial help to develop low-pollution engines and safety devices, relieves Nissan of some debt while the company is being restructured, and gives GM another foothold in Asia."

Scary, 'eh? I guess the new seatbelt arm will say "GM" on it not long from now...

Hey, might be be long before you see the word "SmartTrak" in front of the AWD badge on you next Subaru... (brrrrr)...

Hi Sammy,

Yea, its kinda old news. GM's justification for their interest is that they want Fuji Industries to help with the R&D work on all-wheel drive systems. There are alot of other interests along side of that but you know the big boys from Detroit. They just cant keep their hands off of a good thing!

hehe... GM hasn't been so hot at developing "safety devices" (i.e. intrinsically safe small cars)... guess they finally decided they're better off paying someone to do it for them.

Let's just hope that GM will never acquire moe than 20% of Fuji because I don't want the Sunfire to have hood scoops and a huge wing! Now, how ugly would that look?!
I already have people telling me that their Jeep Grand Cherokee is a Mercedes! Give me a break! Does that mean my mother's Volvo is a Ford, I don't think so!
Let's hope Subaru doesn't become General Subaru Motors (GSM)! hehe!
Take care

Relax everyone...

Isuzu is owned 49% by GM and they haven't tinkered with them at all.

My Rodeo still is tougher than any GM product.
