Post Advice on trip to F1 in the US

Hi there,
I have bought two tickets for the F1 in Indianapolis. Now I need some advice about the trip to indiana and the place to stay there .I'm planning to fly to New York and from there by rental car to Indiana.
Has anyone got some advice which is the nicest route to indiana ?
Is there any hotel nearby that is not full,or is it better to search for a hotel a little further away?
Any members living in or near NY willing to show us the highlights ,we plan to stay there the first two days of our trip.
Ihave taken tickets for the Tower Terrace. s this a good place or have i made the wrong choice.Never been there(or in the US)and it was hard to find out a good spot just from the map alone If this isn't a good place to watch please tell me what place is a good one ,so maybe there is a possibility to have it changed.
Any info or tips are welcome.I know this is not Subaru related ,but i have an Impreza and I am a member of the I-club ,so I think this not a problem for you guys(and girls)
Bye Chris

Sounds like a great trip, but that's quite a drive! Hope you get a "fun" rental car!

Good luck finding a hotel near Indianapolis that weekend. I went to a travel websight Ii found on MSN.com and after about an hour of searching through hotels I gave up. All were booked. I'm still not sure what I'm going to do. I might stay with relatives in Cincinatti and drive to Indy the day of the race. It's only 100 miles or so from there.

M8,I am very honoured that you would like to spend some time with us ,and I like to see NY with someone who knows his way around town more than i do. Our plan is to fly in on sunday or monday ,and from wednesday or thursday on drive to Indianapolis.I'm looking for accomodation there, but I don't mind if it is 100 miles away from the circuit. As for a rental car ,a compact car will do ,we have no plans to race through the US,we like to see some things on the way.Like automorph wrote ,i have a GTT at home ,so I race enough.Any tps on what is the most beautiful route?
So far ,any one thanks for the tips, I appreciate it very much.
If any of you plan a visit to Holand ,feel free to contact me and I show you the nice spots here and you can enjoy the HP's of my Impreza.
bye Chris
