Super Slow

Have a Nice Day? spooling slow

hey fellas

i have a ludespeed stage 2 kit running 4.5lbs....i just installed some borla headers and there is a big noticable lag in turbo spool up....when i'm on the gas before the headers i can make the BOV go off while still on vac. but now all i hear is flutter and the BOV only goes off on positive pressure or boost....according to the butt dyno...the top end does feel a little stronger...maybe it's just me in denial ....i'm planning to run an STi short block very soon and retain my stock 2.5L heads...so running higher boost will definitely come later...but i wanted to know if there were anything i can do to reduce this lag?? i was thinking about thermal wrapping the headers and uppipe...and maaaaaaybe getting a different turbo...i have a t3/t4 right now....how are the ball bearing turbos or the VF series?? oh my car is still running pretty rich due to a blown O2 sensor...so that may have something to do with it...sorry for being so long but any suggestions is widely appreciated thanks

hugh

I have a borla header and didnt notice any noticable lag. Do you have boost gauge and is it still reading right. Have you checked for exhaust leaks?

i heard that a lightened flywheel can do the trick to stop or reduce turbo lag.

there shouldn't be a leak because i'm still reading the same amount of boost at WOT as before the headers...

This is how things usually go. As soon as you say there *shouldn't* be a <insert description/problem here> . That is the first thing you check.

Yea, you're seeing the same amount of boost @ WOT, but there's a significant increase in lag?

The turbo just isn't getting as much hot gas to spin it as before if there's a leak, but it will eventually get up there. Doesn't hurt to check.
