Have a Nice Day? Code 35 purge control solenoid valve troubles

Need PCSV location on 91 legacy
Need specific troubleshooting.

I believe I know where it's at (under the intake man..2 vacuum lines w/ a blue connector...above the brown connector thermoswitch...But I want to be sure.

This is an intermittent thing... the lights comes on then it goes off. I have read that it's eith on or off...when the engine is cold it's off... when it's hot it is on...with some exceptions... such as idling after warm-up. Also I know how the principal of the purge canister and the need to recycle the vapor works. Both the connectors and the vacuum lines are fine.

I'm wondering if during "warm" idle if this light comes on or on the road cruising it goes off and on...is that specifically the solenoid valve or a leaky gas tank cap?

Any history of a faulty PCSV or gas cap?
Any specific procedures?

I ran my 90 Legacy with that light for like 50k miles. Dealership wanted too much to fix it, and nobody else seemed to know what it was.

You're right that the solenoid is mounted on the underside of the intake manifold between the passenger side runners. It's a little bit of a pain to reach, but just be glad you don't have a turbo.

You probably have an intermittent failure. The solenoid is unfortunately mounted somewhere where it is subjected to a lot of heat and vibration, so the coils develop tiny cracks in them that sometimes fail to conduct.
