Ford Focus comes to mind.... I think that's still and early rendition. So I think the end result would be much different. I hate smiling cars. Why does Honda make smiling cars? urghh....

It's pretty cool lookin, not my cup of tea though. It is hard for me to get excited over one more honda being thrown into the mix, gettin kinda tired of seein only those drivin around. Most ricey civics look pretty similar to that anyway. But it is cool that honda is targetting younger drivers with inexpensive sports cars, not to many other companies do that, I think that's why they have been so succesful.

Personally...I have a lot of respect for Honda. They make awesomely (is that a word?) reliable cars...I had my 89 Accord LX-i for 180,000 miles and it NEVER failed me.
And yeah, the whole FWD sports car deal kinda makes me wonder. But they are good performers at a good price. Will I buy one? Nope! But 80% of that nope is due to FWD. Make then RWD and it drops to maybe... Again, personally, I just don't like the sound of a high performance inline 4. The thing that bugs me is the people that drive the crazy looking Hondas (or RX-7s, or DMSes, or...crazy looking anything!) that want to race me all the time. OK OK, the RS is a bit crazy looking on its own...and my exhaust is so very very far from stock...but that "street racer" mentality just bugs me. I can't even count the number of times I have been driving home at 2-3 in the morning, have a car full of silly drunk people (me being sober of course...that is what being the DD is all about!) and having one of those crazy maniacs pull next to me and try to race...over and over and over again! My favorite thing to do to them? Nothing. Absolutely nothing.OK...rant off...done now! D. Neil Crawford |

I always liked Hondas, especially their Type-R models. I owned an Integra before, and I drive a Civic now. My whole family drives a Honda-manufactured car as a matter of fact. This just confirms my faith in them. To make outrageously powered N/A inline-4 engines that still make outrageous MPG and emissions figures, then mate them to the best handling FWD chassis and great-feeling transmissions (IMO) requires some balls, especially since they are sticking to FWD.
This new Type-R looks like a Renault Clio Sport at the rear. I personaly would rather have this and the European/Japanese 5 door hatch than the coupe we're getting here. You think this looks like a Focus? Have you seen the coupe? Might as well buy a Focus sedan and delete two doors. |

That is the same image that appeared in SCOOP! a few months ago. Take it with a grain of salt.
I think it looks really nice, though. I'll be curious as to what the real one looks like. Greg. |

ANY Type R from Honda is a nice car. Don't believe me? Try to take you N/A Impreza to a track and keep up with a Type R. As for Honda ATTS system, keep it. I will take the mechanical front LSD from the Type R any day over some stupid computer controlled system that THINKS it knows how I want to drive!

When my brother and I saw the new civic we both laughed and thought to ourselves maybe Honda and Subaru wants to be more like dogde and ford. I mean, come on, the new wrx looks like a neon and the new civic looks like a focus. And the neon and focus kinda look alike themselves. Look closer, there you go.
Anyways, I like the civic although I can't stop laughing at it's resemblence ![]() The[1]one |

Looks like Honda is trying to style their cars after VW right now- the civic looks like a Jetta and the hatch looks like a Golf.

This kind of reaction is the reason we only get the Integra Type-R over here (and a dumbed-down version at that) and no other Type-R models. People in America see "Honda" and think either JapCrap, econobox, or *******. When Honda tries to fix that image, everyone is like "What the hell?"
Maybe it's not your guys' cup of soup styling-wise, but look what most of you dirve: the Impreza is far from everyone's favorite looking car (though it's my 2nd favorite ).The fact of the matter is that it's a friggin' Type-R! It doesn't matter what it looks like, it's still a great machine. |

I'm sorry, but that thing is horrendously ugly. Normally, if a car is ugly and has good performance I do not care, but that thing looks like a hot wheels toy or a Playskool car. I don't mind looking at an ugly car, but a car must at least look like it should be taken seriously.
I don't know why, but it seems like Japanese designers are going insane lately. Some of the greatest looking Japanese cars are getting the shaft in the cosmetic department. Honda would have to pay me to get me to drive that ugly thing. Its just too cutsy and toy like to be taken seriously. The Japanese companies need to stop letting children into their design studios. |
