Post WHOO HOO.. body shop said my car is totalled!

Well folks, the body shop has not finished the estimate, but they feel there is no saving my baby. If the insurance company agrees, then their will be a salvage sale on my Impreza. I wont sell anything that even might be damaged. My speedlines are rather scratched up.. (sniffle) so I will seek reimbursement from the insurance company for them. I would not recommend anybody buy my KYB AGX's because the suspension is bent on the back end, which means they all could be tweaked. Better to let them rust than put a partially damaged shock on somebody's car. My springs, are probably saveable. My fog light covers are scratched up, so I will consider them dead. Come to think of it, I don't think that much is left. Maybe my Stromung cat back is saveable. I recall it was rather handsome looking when the car was on its roof. Oh the STI shift linkage and shifter is probably okay as are the cusco bushings. I would imagine that the transmission is okay as well. So is the engine. There is an underdrive pully on it and my custom intake setup that works very well.

Now all of this stuff is technically 'saveable'. I may need them on the car to negotiate a better settlement. It depends on what the Allstate guys say. By the way, so far Allstate has been fantastic with handling my claim. Kudos to them!

Well that's an update on the dead Impreza. Now I still have to decide if I can go 4.5 months without a car..

Sweet deal... I konw if I crashed mine I'd want it totaled as well. Hope you get all back that you've paid for on it. Good luck going through all the deals and everything.

I'd pay for shipping and your time for the fog covers if your just going to leave em.

If they are just scratched, no biggie.

Sorry about your Imprz....But as long as you're ok, that's what really counts. Material is replaceable not human beings.
That said...I'll be interested in your STI short shifter and bushings if it's in performance condition (good, driveable, etc.)
Let me know....you can PM me.

You should buy it back when they are done. Its usualy cheap, and you can then sell nearly everything on the car, then GIVE the rest to a slavage yard to get it out of the way.

BTW is the front suspention arms in passible shape? I might be interested in getting one from you to see if it will go on the older cars w/o much effort. Also would need the rear mounting blocks.

Yeah... you are lucky...

My car was wrecked back in April. It was in the shop for 5 1/2 months. Then I had it for 1 months and it went back. It's still there.

I really wish mine had been totalled.

TMR... thats pretty bad, how is your insurance company treating you? So far Allstate is being rather cool about this whole thing. Other than them calling it an At Fault accident! I will fight that. Tommi Makkinen could not have missed that rock. (okay well maybe he could but not likely!)

Anyway best of luck to you.
sorry about your loss, not a good month for white Impreza's huh?

You should make a big but polite stink with the insurance company. Thats what I did with my mini van after it had been in and out of the shop after an accedent. I got it totaled.

TMR, Dont even accept that car in any way but totalled!

That thing is a mess!

The front clip all the way to the windshield is done for.and it looks like to be safe-all the front suspension components should be replaced, and the roof is buckled, not to mention that the damage entered the interior on the passenger side!

I have been through all this myself, and trust me,you dont want that car on the road, unless they (and they wont) bought another car with a blown drivetrain,or theft recovery with no damage, and swapped the title.

I also am betting that you will find that your engine, and trans have severe damage, and arent useful as is,without repair first.

I might not even want the car for a grand,if I were you. Not knowing the mods that are salvageable,of course.

But one thing's for sure-dont take the car as a rebuild. Unless the body shop people are magic, that car will be junk.
