I've got an importer that says he has ej20 turbos and even TWIN TURBOS in his suppliers warehouse that he is going to look into for me. I've found a '99 L Wagon that I'd thinking of purchasing and then dropping the ej20 into. What do I need to get in order to do the swap? What else should I get? I'm not sure if he's got a car, or just the engine and transmission. When I bought my last engine, which was for my Twin Turbo 300ZX, he said they drove the car into the garage and pulled the motor. If its the same situation I may be able to get other parts off the vehicle. What should I get? Suspension parts, driveshaft, intercoolers?? What?
Thanks, KaZ

The twin turbo does not fit in the Impreza. well it might in a new one, but I wouldn't spend the money to try.
Just get a decent STi single turbo, or get a legacy for the TT. |

We were told by our Friends in Australia that the twin turbo doesn't run real well (turbo lag). They have a Forester twin turbo.
We just finished my 2.0 turbo conversion, it came out good. We should have the info up this weekend on the board & web-site. Pam |

Ok, so stay away from the TT. Single turbo ok? Anything to get or watch out for?

There is alot of information on the conversion. Ed did a great job, we had it in & running in no time. We did alot to the car & still have some minor items to finish up on.

Yes, watch out for a Sti engine. They are the ones to get. Check out the other thread "engine swap". There is a complete engine for sale.

It depends on what you want installed.
We have been able to get conversions with everything including axles f&R, brakes, rear diff, seats, etc.... Pam |

The RHD harness is the key to the whole conversion. You then just separate the engine wiring from the rest of the loom, and then make the splice connections into the stock harness. But, only a handful of knowledgable people can do this. The most time consuming is preparing and installing the wiring. The actual install of all the parts is straight forward.

WRXGirl,
Did you have to do all the wiring etc? What exactly did you install? When will the write up be done? =) Can you give a rough estimate what it would cost the rest of us in i-club land to do this conversion? =) Because like I said, I've found a wagon I like (gonna probably look at it today or tomorrow) and then I'm talking with an importer about ordering the stuff, but I need to know what to get! Thanks, KaZ |
