While I'm not 100% sure, but the main difference should be that the Legacy wagon is based on the larger Legacy chasis while the Outback (Impreza Outback Wagon to be exact) is based on the Impreza chasis. There is also an Outback Sport (abriviated OBS on this board) model, but I'm not sure of the difference between this model and the normal Outback.
If you look at them the Legacy is larger than the Outback. And the outback bears a striking resemblance to the impreza coupe/sedan. I think that the Legacy wagon also comes equiped with the 2.5L engine while the Outback only gets the 2.2L. ~Alan |

BONK!
![]() The Legacy and Outback are the SAME vehicle. Some of the features are different, as is the suspension. What's the difference between a loaded GT wagon and a loaded Outback Ltd Wagon? Outback has leather seats (heated?) and higher height, two tone paint. GT has cloth, monochrome look, and sport suspension. The Outback Sport is the one based on the Impreza Sportwagon. Difference between the OBS and the IMP Sportwagon - ride height and paint. Oh yeah.. the Outback/OBS have different front bumpers. |

The Forester is built off the Impreza chassis, so it's got 1.5" or so less rear legroom than the Legacy/Outback.

You guys sound totally confused!
The Outback LEGACY is simply a $1k option with Heated seats, 1 more inch of ride height, those different tires and rims, the 2-tone pant with different body pannels, bigger side view mirrors, and a softer suspension... The GT Wagon also comes in a GT Limited Wagon I believe (or am I wrong?) which means leather (I think I could be wrong on this part...) The Outback SPORT is simply an outback version of the Impreza line, with the 2-tone paint, outback style wheels, softer suspension, higher ride height, etc... Not as fancy as the Legacy version of the Outback though. [This message has been edited by Kostamojen (edited February 06, 2001).] |
