Default PIAA headlights

has anyone tryed the piaa platinum super white 9007 or the piaa xtreme white plus. Any pics or reviews on these lights. Trying to decide which one to buy. I want a very white light. HID look. Not a APC blue look. I have the silverstars right now and i dont like them at all. Not to white at all or to bright.

I had the superwhites on my old car. When one of the PIAAs blew, I got silverstars (sylvania) and did a side by side comparison.

The superwhites were a little whiter compared to the silverstars. The silverstars were kind of purple. Output was about the same. Both were crap in rain. I dont know if the superwhites were worth the 2x the price. PIAA may have other bulbs that are whiter tho??

my silverstars look like a normal yellow light. I was expecting a lil bit of white for $40. I think iam gonna go with the xtreme white plus. It says its a close HID look with a slight blue color and really white. Any blue or white headlight sucks in the rain but helps alot when its not raining. Thanks for the info though

Aside from the potential glare some of these bulbs cause, coated bulbs reduce the amount of useable light. There have been several discussions on this. Here's a a couple of links that may be of interest:

if you are spending the kinda of money for piaas you can try polargs or raybrigs....a lot whiter light...i had the polarg vip's in my gc...and due to the fact they have a yellow band across the bottom of the sread they worked really well in the rain

My PIAAs lastest pretty long. Somewhere around 3+ years, which is quite long hear.

If looks is something you are looking for then a coated bulb is what you are looking for. Superwhites had a slight blue coating, not as much as the sylvanias SS tho. For output, try osram silverstars, for about the same price as sylvania silverstar and without the coating. But I'm not sure if they come in 9007. Also there are the phillips xtravisions?

I put the Xtreme White Plus bulbs in my car and have been delighted with the results. I make a 285 mile each way trip every weekend, mostly in the dark. It's all interstate and, with the level of traffic, low-beam all the way, which is really taxing at high speed. I feel they've really improved the visibility and when you put them on high they're as good as any I've seen (not counting 4 Cibie 100Es ). Haven't had any problems with rain, fog, snow etc. that I wouldn't have expected anyway. Compared with $800 for a set of HIDs... no-brainer

The Piaa Xtremes match my hids almost perfectly. I like them. I've always used Piaa's on my cars and they usually last about 3-4 years. I've never had one die sooner than that and I always drive with my lights on too.

PIAA has a good reputation and have great products. The only problem that you'll have with them is the cost. Easily 2-3x more expensive then some other alternatives. But still good stuff. Oh, and make sure you're not putting a higher wattage bulb than your wiring can handle.
