NYXT- a friendly piece of advice; you need to take the time and do a little research before posting questions like that. This forum, as well as Subaruforester.com, has a search function where you can learn all about how boost works (and doesn't). I know you're anxious to come up to speed on your new ride, but peppering both boards with tons of 1st timer questions isn't the best way to introduce yourself to the community.

Learning all about turbo engines and how they work is definately a plus when getting a turbo charged car. First off, I have a hard time understanding how your turbo works when it wants too. I think we all need a little more info about your situation and a little better detail. Also, as of today I have not heard of anyone else experiencing anything like you describe. Help us understand a little better or take your car to the dealer where you can get some technical help.

It would help if you would explain what happens

Simply saying "Anybody have this problem it goes on and off?"
Will result in " "

NYXT - are you talking about the 'turbo gauge' or the actual turbo kicking in or not kicking in? a little more description would be helpful?

NYXT- forgive me if I say anything you already know. I'll tell you now your on-line syntax makes you quite difficult to understand...perhaps English is a second language so I'll let it slide.

Turbocharging requires pressure from the exhaust side of the valvetrain to operate. In the case of the Forester, the turbo "spools up" right around 3000k. It will feel as though the turbo "turns on" or "turns off" on either side of that dividing line. It is not as pronounced a feeling in our cars as it is in the WRX, because the larger displacement of our 2.5l engine gives us more low-end torque without the help of the turbo.

It becomes quite difficult for anyone here to answer your question; because you "dont want too know about how a turbo works" makes us wonder how accurately you are describing the potential problem.

Im sorry nobody is getting me i will try to make it more clear.

No i dont have turbo lag no the boost is not low. Its that sometimes the turbos would not work at all meaning its like it has no turbos. no turbos exist.

This is what happened i was driving on the highway for 20 minutes and i got to a ramp to get on to another interstate and floored it and all it did was pusch back and didnt go meaning it wouldnt excelaerate (only really slow) then i drove it home right away and waited an hour started it up again drove it and it was back to normal.

Do you guys understand now?

oh and its not like it didnt kick in at a certian RPM it didnt work at all

Do you have a boost guage to see that you actually don't have any boost when you go WOT or just guessing by the feeling? If you got WOT for a few seconds and the boost guage never moves I would have your dealer check it out (if you don't have any boost mods).

OK, if you have an XT and "floor it" and you don't get thrown back in your seat than you have a problem with your FXT and should take it to a dealer for service. My FXT "zooms" whenever I floor it, whether I'm standing still, or going 60mph. And, no, we have not seen a report of this happening to others.

Take the car to your dealer and have them take a look at it. Something is drastically wrong if the turbo does not work at all as you are describing...

Do you have any mods???

If you have a atmospherically venting blow off valve I would bet $100 that you fried your pre-cat.
