Angry Losing sucks.

I am so, so, so, so, so tired of losing. Thats it. No more money is going into this damn thing. I'm putting my MR2 back together and thats it.

Sorry guys, our cars need ALOT of help in the HP department and turbo is just out of most of our reach.

I'm distressed. Can't you tell?

I know what you mean (not the losing part). I'm ready to sell the RS and get something that has power without having to put $3K+ into it

If you wanted a car that would shred up everyone else on the straightaways, you picked the wrong car. Sorry man.

I have no illusions about running 14s stock, or 11s in street trim. There are cars meant to do that.

My car is meant to provide me with a smile on my face when I'm driving. It does its job well. It's not a Z28. It never will be. And I like it that way.

If you REALLY want HP, talk to TRi about a motor swap. Chris is great, he'll hook you up.

Overtime,

Your right. I guess everytime I get in my car I think its a WRX. Thats my fault.

You know what? The car also brings a smile to my face whenever I'm charging up a canyon or just driving from point a to point b. But that smile crumbles when my car can't even handle a passing diesel truck on the freeway. I'm exaggerating but thats how it feels sometimes.

I don't regret buying the car. Hell, its a lease, but sometimes I just wish it wasn't so underpowered(compared to its brethren).

You know what? I totally know what you're talking about. I get spanked by my friends with Corrados all the time. BUT, I know that there is potential. It's just a question of whether or not you have the patience to realize that potential. Becides, I know that the RS is plenty for me on the canyon runs (at least for now).

What was it that smoked you? I was just cruising, all of a sudden, a Civic Si passed, and reved his engine and left. Hehhehe...

But hey, patience grasshoppah and your car may just turn into a P1.

Thumbs up

Think of it this way:

The Si has its speed. That's it.

There's not much you can do with a Civic. It has VTEC, it can handle decently from the factory, but once you slap on the turbo or start with the engine internals, you're set. It's not a sports car. It never will be. It's a Civic.

The Impreza has all the foundations. Great chassis with the best AWD in the auto biz. It can be so much more than what it comes as stock...add an 18 or 20mm sway bar and it can outhandle most cars on the road. If you want to get a sports car, you have the Impreza, which CAN be a sports car.

At least it starts out better than the Civic-the Civic is a high-revving, quick little car. The Impreza is a torquey, road-gripping, sporty AWD car with the potential to be more. If you're a tuner, you'd pick the Impreza.

Just my opinion. I'm going to sleep. Good night.

I think that too until I have someone following me and I can gain half a block on them around some corners.

Hell, I've had an old guy in an Oldsmobile Intrigue blow by me without hope of catching up before.

If someone asks me to race, I just reply the same thing "Sure, let's find a gravel road" to which everyone walks away quickly. Some guy in an 11-second Camaro would walk away from me in my 15-second Scooby.

Pfffff add a turbo to the RS! That still won't garrantee victory. The same motto from the V8 world holds true in the import one. There will always be somebody out there who is faster then you or a better driver. Sure a turbo will let you beat a Civic. It will even help you beat somebody from a standing start with the help of the AWD. It won't help on the highway against another fast car. You'll still run into the Impreza's low top speed of somewhere passed 120mph. Besides do you really want to go that fast on a public road with the Village Idiot behind the wheel of the other car?

Guys..

There will always be someone with more power... better handling.. better brakes.. more balls to go faster or be more crazy..

You should be happy within yourself.. and enjoy it for what it is and not compare against others.

Hell I get bored with mine.. you start to take things for granted... it goes on and on...Its not just about winning or being the fastest.

Wow.. that was deep..whats up with me ?

Hey, i'm just curious why you guys all call this thing so slow. my last car was an 88 RX-7, and this would blow the doors off that. and when i see eclipses, see ya. also, i've never had problems passing on the highway, when i step on it, in 5th gear, this car jsut goes. i know there ARE faster cars out there, but for everyday driving the torque alone should quench most peoples needs. even without the turbo, i can't think of another car i'd rather have, and i love cars with some balls.

You're right, Subarus here ARE a bit underpowered. You think you've got it bad? I have a 98 Legacy GT(Wife laid down the law. had to get a 4 door. And I wasn't getting a 2.2). Same engine, but heavier. But you know what? I can still have a lot of fun with mine and even win sometimes. They're called offramps! I can't tell you how many cars I've dusted on the offramp leading to my house! Anyhow, I'll be even happier in Jan/Feb when I order my WRX!

Guy's,

What are you driving- I have yet to come up on a civic si in a straight line that I couldn't beat! There must be a difference between the 2000 and previous years because I feel confident coming up on a VR6- actually the other night I entered I-4 at about 80mph and ended up right beside a brand new Jetta VR6- the race was on, at first I was hesitant because I have heard stories from here saying that the VR6's were very quick, but I was just having fun and I raced him. I started to pass him when i lokked down and I was in excess of 120mph. At this point he gave up. There are 2 theories.....1. 2.5RS is quick with intake and exhaust or 2. Every driver that I have been up against(which are many) just suck.

I don't know what the rest of you are doing but I have no problem suprising people.

Ciao,
John

I've run against VR6's and lost. I got a pulley and an intake. No exhaust. Don't get too many Si's hitting me up anymore.

And alot of what you guys say is right. There will always be someone faster or better. But its nice to know that when someone rolls up next to you, you know you can spank him. Thats what I loved about my MR2. I get all kinds of cocky ass people in beemers and MBZ(except one that passed me like I was standing still while I was doing about 100) and know that I can take them out. I don't really race many people anymore but there are exceptions. I think my record in the scoob is like 2 wins and 6 loses.

I guess I'm just expecting too much out of this car.

"Don't Worry Be Happy!" I have the 1.8 in my wagon and I still love driving my car. You don't have to worry about being the fastest car on the road, just as long as you have fun and enjoy driving your subie! I had a Legend before, and it really was a blast to floor the V6 but the Subaru is just so much more fun to drive! ---> plus you have the miracle of AWD...

I still don't understand...

If you like your MR2 so much, sell the Sube and use it! It's not about being a brand whore, it's about enjoying your car.

Actually, I think a lot of it comes from the fact that the RS looks a lot faster than it is. I think that it's a mental state. When you expect the car to be fast, you'll never be satisfied w/ it.

Personally, I think that the RS is a great base to build off of. I bought this car new, and plan to keep it for a full-blown project race/rally car down the line. I'm not too worried about getting fast in a hurry... but that's mostly due to wallet considerations. Anyway, I figure I'd enjoy this car for a while, then upgrade the suspension and get almost a entirely different feeling car. Then slap on a turbo a bit later and get another completely different car.

I guess it's the cheapa$$'s way of getting the most enjoyment for the buck (rather than doing all the stuff at once, then getting bored.)

Okay... enough ranting.

Do what I do.... just race to the speed limit and tap the brakes.
Stock for stock, I really don't know how you can beat a vr6 on dry roads....
