Default What to choose - my wrx or an education

I have a serious dilemma. I love my car. I cant imagine not having a car, i look forward to driving it everday. I want to get an education. I've been accepted to the University of Washington (Seattle). This costs money, which i don't have much of, and neither do my parents....so, my car is worth money.

I'm probably going to end up selling my rex and that'll be enough for the first year ($15,xxx). I guess ill just have to play racing games on xbox to feed my need for speed.

What would u guys do if you were in my situation.

Loans mang, that's what everyone i know does.

I have a friend who had to sell both his 60's Camaros that he earned in high school working in at a tire store (and seriously messing up his shoulder).

He hates me, but then i let him drive my car, and all is well

There are plenty of fast cars out there that are way cheaper than a WRX. You just have to buy used.

$16,000 gets me a Bachelors at the University of Alaska Anchorage, 4 years obviously, cheapest University tuition i've ever seen. Even out of state tuition is still under 3,000 a semester.

Get a frikin' college loan.

Sell car, go to school. I think your financial priorities are unfortunately a bit out of whack if you're driving a WRX in college but don't have the money to go to school.

You generally don't have to pay student loans until you are done with your education.

I would say, sell the car, get the degree. You can always buy a new car once school is done. Try to stay away from student loans if you can. Remember, the loan has to be repaid.
I am paying on about $50K in school loans right now... it is basically a car payment every month for the next 30 years.

In the long run, you will be better off if you can get through school with a MINIMUM of school loans used. Definately look for scholarships and the like... there are plenty out there to choose form.

And... GOOD LUCK!

I didn't even own a car until I was out of college and even then it was a cheap beater (my first Subie!). Anyone who puts driving a WRX over getting an education deserves to work at WalMart for the rest of their life.

I too didn't own a car for much of my college career, I commuted every where by bike.

In short, sell your car, and get your degree. You could think about attending state schools, they will definitely be cheaper. You should be able to get a full degree for 15k at a good state University.

I'm a freshman at UW right now... I have a 96L which i will drive till it dies... personally i use getting an STi as motivation to do good in college and get my EE degree and make the cash... i'd totally sell the car man... once you get on campus you dont even need it.. all its gonna do is sit in a parking spot and lose value. besides parking at UW induces extreme headaches about 500 parking spots for 2000 cars... if i remember correctly its 300 bucks a quarter for a reserved parking spot at UW... not worth it man... sell the car take minimal loans and get an STi after school
