Question New Impreza, the RSK B4, the GT-B, or the turbo Forester?

So given that we have all seen the spy pics and all the mags say that the new design is likely to be a tough sell I was curious how many people would rather see the other Japan market Subaru's brought to the US? You know ones like the Legacy GT-B, the RSK B4 and the turbo Forester. Who'd rather buy one of them then the new Impreza?

Hmm I think the GT-B with a Turbo 6 cyl would be nice. I mean the 97 only hit 167MPH. We definitly need a 180+ MPH wagon for the silverstate classic.

Cool

I would probably buy the new Impreza,
I'm not sure it looks so bad in the flesh,
and it is more fun than either the Legacy RSK or the Forester STI,
"Car" tested the RSK against the RB5 (An Impreza with Prodrive upgrade to 240hp) and they say the RSK is a good car the Impreza better .
But still if not Impreza it's got to be a Legacy RSK, it looks great.
there are rumors about a B6, with a turbocharched H-6 engine , we'll have to wait and see.

IsraelGT, the thing is the US won't be getting a real 280hp WRX. We will only be seeing the UK turbo. I hope they do build a B6! That would be one hell of a ride. It would be up there with the Audi S4. I'd love to have the Blitzen. Too bad SOA thinks we only want the Outbacks.

Thumbs up

Since I have owned two Legacy's, I would for sure buy a RSK B4. It is a well thought out design based on existing Legacy styling with updates, plus the Turbo engine. I think the cost might be near an Audi S4 unfortunately.

No comparison to the new Subaru Neon, which should be put to sleep.

Thumbs up

Toss up B/W the Forester and the B4 both extremly awesome but the forester just has a little more appeal to me blowing the doors off a mustang in a mini suv is just too fun.

N/A,
I know the U.S is not getting the STI, but don't dissmiss the GT model, it has 220hp on just 1250kg, and it does around 5 sec 0-60 (check Top gear and Autocar), it was voted "Car of the decade"!!! in England, and it beat cars like Aston martin, Merc E-55 and B.M.W M5 in a recsent "Car" handling test, and this with a 7 year old design!!!
Oh and given the chance to choose between an RSK or S4, i'll take the RSK every time! the S4 was compared to the GTB (RSK wagon) and they said the Legacy "runs rings around the S4 in corners" ("Car"), in a comparison between the S4, P1 and Evo they said the S4 is just "The S4 is not a very good car, quite frankly, and in this company it's not even all that quick" ("Autocar" 5 april 2000).
So quit it with the S4 already you overrate it, and now you will be getting a car which kicks it's a**, even if you have to get used to the looks,
Impreza GT(Turbo)- 215hp, 5.3 sec 0-60, 1235kg
Sti ver 4 - 280hp, 4.6 sec 0-60, 1275kg
P1- 277hp, 4.7 sec 0-60, 1283kg
B4 RSK- 276hp, 5.5 sec 0-60, 1383kg
Audi S4- 265hp, 5.6/5.5/5.7/6.3 ("Autocar"/"Car"/"Top gear" Sedan/"Top gear" Avant), 1562kg
maybe now you will lay off the Audi?
the figures are from "Autocar" or as mentioned.

Yah but your not buying just the engine in the car. The Audi has more torque lower in the RPM range, more refined, better quality and it just looks better. I had a WRX, I have a RS. Personally I think the turbo'd RS is more dauly driver friendly since it has more torque, higher compression ratio and displacement. Given the other cars taht are slated to come out in 2002 the new Imrpeza Turbo may be a tough sell in the US. After all its a country where looks matter most of all. Besides if given the chance I would buy the RSK. I like it more then the S4. Its also cheaper. Now if they build a RSK B6 that would be cool! It would be even better if it was in the US. There is a reson for the UK Turbo to be faster then the RSK. The RSK is heavier. I'd buy either the RSK or then the next choice would be the turbo Forester.

The Audi is not better built than the Legacy,
Just take a glimpse at the rescent J.D.POWER in England, one of the complaints was that the Audi rattales, also read the long term test in "Autocar" (Golf Vs. Astra Vs. Focus) thay say, when new the Golf looked like its the best built but at the end it looked the cheapest and had the most rattales just like the 6 month Passat I drove,
You can't argue with the Legacy 1st place.
and the fact the S4 is more refined than an Impreza, Who cares????
like "Autocar", "Car", "evo and "Top gear" say, sorry but no comparison!, the Impreza is way faster and leagues ahead in handling!
Oh and I find the Legacy RSK a better looking car, maybe I'm wierd.
Cheers Udi.
