Jorge
I guess we will see how out of round the stock liners go. What rods did you end up with? |

Stock USDM rods. I'm really not looking at pushing this. Honestly if the motor ever saw more then 17 PSI by redline I'd be surprised.

With a stock set of WRX heads, and stock 257 gasket.. no clue. I'll let the guys at Axis chime in. Jorge (RiftsWRX) www.ProjectWRX.com |

With those pistons and our cometic head gaskets, compression ratio should be ~8.5/8.6:1
With the thinner gasket, it will be a little higher. Talking about installing with WRX heads. -Mike |

The pistons are designed specially for the ej257 motor. They use the piston dish of our 2.35, which with unmodified wrx heads and Cometic gaskets yeilds about 8.5-8.6:1. Jorge's heads were slightly modified, so I would say his final cr will be around 8.0-8.1:1.
When using stock ej257 gaskets, you can figure on about 8.8-8.9:1 cr with wrx heads. The pistons themselves have a modified compression height, so the bottom oil control ring does mount slightly lower than it does on the stock piston. All 3 rings were lowered a bit to give more crown and a thicker top ring land for strenghth. The pistons should be able to take more than 30psi without hassles, but I doubt the stock rods will take much more than 24-25psi and still stay together. We usually suggest that the ej257 block not see more than 24psi if you want it to live for more than a couple months. Ron |
