Cool My rant on the new impreza

Keep in mind this is only my opinion...

with that being said..

people chill out. Its not that bad. Subaru cant keep making the same car for 12 years. I love the current body style too. But until you have seen this on in full WRX trim (with wings all the accomanying rally trim) in person I would hold judgement. Seeing a car in person does worlds for it. You cant grasp the subtle way the light hits it and the slight curvature of the fenders. Its the subtle things that inspire emotion. I like all the hood vents and scoops as well .. belive me, I think they rule!

Subaru is a business, they need to make money. Be glad that with the really small sales of the RS they did not cancel it altogether. This is more mainstream.. I agree.. its less chew you up and spit you out.. I agree. but its got great wheels.. and I think that when properly equiped with all the 'tacky' add-ons that we love it will look fantastic!

If the WRX in the picture is as radical as its going to get.. then I personally belive they diluted it a tad to much. But I will still be in line to purchase one in a couple of years..

Just wait to see it in person.. thats all I suggest.

It could possibly bring the value of our current models up a little. I was talking to a local dealership, and one of the sales people told me that there is a waiting list for my98 used Imprezas. I was also told that in Canada, they only ship 400 2.5RS' each year, making our cars almost collectors. Givin the very appealing styling of our cars(in stock form), selling an Impereza after the new model debuts(if it looks like a Neon)
should'nt be a problem. Gotta be positive!!!

I like everything EXCEPT the front end, if the front end was similiar to the older car, then we'd have a winner.

This car looks a lot more "mature" (read: less aggressive). The proportions are there, and the profile looks good.

But it's no 97-2000 impreza. The front end needs to die. That bug eyed piece of garbage.

IMHO, the only thing ugly about the entire car is the headlights. Personally I think that they can grow on me as well.

I do like the body style, though it HIGHLY needs a wing.

That said and done, I will NOT be turning my car in unless I can get a DAMN good deal on that one (ie. dealer cost + $100). Until then, I will consider turbo'ing my MY00, or just plain having fun with it until I move onto bigger and better things... like an S4.

It'd probably also be wise to wait until the car has been officially unveiled, as all the spy pics in the world don't necessarily mean squat. While it might be hard to keep something from the press, or in this case to feed the press wrong material, it is certainly not impossible. Especially in this day of instant hoaxs via the Internet...

I like it, hope it's real and already told my dealer friend tha I want it.

Instead of having one ugly car, I'll now have two.

Seriously, Joel said it best when he talked about how ugly the current Impreza really is. We love it, but most hate it.

The same love/hate relationship will take effect with this new car.

Again, I love it, and am buying it. Enough said.

Well maybe it will be so ugly that nobody will buy it and it will be cheaper. If it's a good looking car with the kind of performance numbers were hearing, we'll have a bunch of ex-honda drivers driving scoobies. That would suck

Only thing that annoys me with the new car is when is it coming and how much! and if it will have a turbo or will we indeed get stuck with the 2.5 non turbo AGAIN!

At least for the MY98 and MY99 models, they only made 3000 each year. That is not a whole lot of cars, period. Don't know what the production run on the 2000 was. But I do know that I will have no problem dropping my MY99, if and when the time comes, for a turbo My friends are already lined up to buy it
