Default prodrive opinions

i'm trying to get a general concensus on what you guys think of prodrive products. any problems with the products, delivery, support, quality of manufacture, etc.

specifically thinking about their performance stage 3, pff-7 wheels, and suspension packages.

any input will help. thanks.

pricey but good... though the suspension (assuming springs) and the PFF-7's aren't priced too bad.

Their performance packages are nice, but there are other packages offered by Vishnu, TurboXS, Cobb and others that offer the same performance for a lot less. Generally, all their stuff is good/great, but you are paying for the name.

Prodrive stuff is top notch. Pay for what you get for. Price is a big factor for them though, but they aren't what SWRT's tuner for nothing

General concensus is that the wheels are real nice and priced about right, springs are good slightly high on price and most other things, especially the repackaged products are a rip. Pretty general statement, I know.

I wanted Prodrive until I got the "brush off" when I was inquiring about the STi packages. I think that when they finally do release a package for the STi (it took over a year for the WRX one) it will be nice and pricey.

I am really considering COBB as an alternative. The Access Port is just too neat.

Their wheels are top of the line, but you will pay the premium for the price.

Their suspension components (namely springs) are considered top of the line as wheel. Absolutely excellent.

Their stage kits have come with mixed results. First, they were too pricey, especially considering the competition. Second, they didn't put out what was expected power wise. So combine that with their price, it wasn't a big hit.

But Prodrive is a name that you know you can get results from.

thank you for the replies--all great contributions.

i guess my major concerns are reliability (since i put about 110 miles on it a day) and truth in advertising (so that i can get it right the first time). i don't want to spend money on stuff that won't work in a couple of years or doesn't perform as it's supposed to.

the active suspension package looks like something to save up for. i'm hoping that it will be the glue that will tie the extra power and the wheels/tires together.

Cobb isn't the alternative. They should be your first choice.

I love this statement. PD doesn't even make all their own products. Actually, very few of their products are made by PD.

All they seem to do is re-package someone else's **** with their name on it and jack the price 10x.

I personally wouldn't even look at PD as a EMS option, maaaaaaaaaaybe rims but definitely not EMS. Go with the Cobb AccessPort for EMS. Cobb is at the top of his game right now and as far as I'm concerned, no other company comes close to the EMS offered by Cobb. The ease of use, cost and quality is top notch.

Don't waste your money on PD, they are such a rip off. They use their involvement with the SWRT to exploit and over charge basic tuners like ourselves.

As a big WRC and ALMS fan, I love the Prodrive support of Subaru and Ferrari.

They make sound conservative power gains but at a higher cost than COBB. COBB seems to make more power yet still conservative and is faster to market. When I say conservative I mean less agressive this Vishnu or TXS. (not that they are bad or OVERLY aggressive - just I would rather have 75000 miles on my turbo than say 50000 - IMHO 50K is still alot!)

Personally, IMHO, for handling Prodrive is the shizzle, and power is/will be COBB... I have FT@SLG or Myles@RCE to source either. EIther way I will require an entire "stage" from selected tuner. No mix and match for me.

I dunno how Cobb is top of the EMS game when they have preset maps. I'm all for the UTEC.

Back on topic, I have the axle back oval tip and I love it. It's pricey brand new but I got it barely used for almost half.

You may want to re-read my post. I didn't say that Cobb is the top of the EMS game. I stated that he is at the top of HIS game. Don't worry though, he'll knock UTEC off the map when AccessTuner is release.

I love prodrive stuff.

I have:

prodrive PPP3
prodrive GC-06D wheels (white)
prodrive P1 wheels (gold)
prodrive brakes
prodrive aero pack<-You can get this for $799 now.
prodrive springs
prodrive shift knob

The deciding factor on the PPP3 for me was that it is under warranty in the UK....won't really do yo uany good here, but it does give you peace of mind....I wrote a review on it. Let me find the link

edit: here is the link http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...hreadid=432029

The only prodrive item I have thought about changing out was my shift knob.....it gets cold in the winter (brrr) and hot in the summer(ouch!)....it feels great though when it is the right temp.

edit edit: I will say that prodrive springs are the best spring you can buy without a doubt....They are made by eibach to prodrive's specifications.

You cant compare the two. A reflash and a utec is the best way to go. But cobb is miles ahead of other reflashes and ways of tuning the stock ecu.

Prodrive... well... this thread will cover it.

I haven't made up my mind yet about prodrive. I have the PPP3 and while the product quality seems excellent, I cannot say the same about their customer service. My PPP3 ecu map had some quirks in it, and while I was supplied with a temporary fix, I am still waiting to see what Simon is going to do to get this taken care of.

Luckily, I got the kit installed at Mastro Subaru in Tampa, FL and they have gone out of their way to help me out, which is more than I can say of prodrive thus far.

I have the PPP2 and i love it! It's really great for low-end power and daily driving. I only a street driver so it had worked well for me so far. However, I do wish that I could switch between maps like the new Cobb Access, but I also like the fact that Prodrive has been around for a long time and that Subaru works exclusively with them.

Perfection takes time. Cobb is notorious for lengthy release dates but he has always delivered a top notch product. It's not obvious that I like Cobb is it?
