Post N vs. S Smackdown...

Congrats to Tony for winning the 1st annual N vs. S smackdown in NJ for the south yesterday! He gets to take home the 1st place Smakckdown Trophy...a nice pine paddling board (Pics coming soon) with the title of the award on it.

What an amazing site..seeing all different levels of preparedness on these cars. If you wanted to know what any mod looked like, it was surely there on one car or another.

The difference between 1st and 2nd place in STS was something like a half second. And the nice, soft PAX of STS put Imprezas in the top 10 (4th and 6th to be exact) at the end of day and a few more in the top 20.

STS had 25 cars in it, and I believe something like 15-17 of them were Imprezas.

In attendance were also Matt's Turboed RS and Wayne's Turboed OBS in Street Mod...you guys need sticky tires.

Great seeing many of you guys, and there's no freakin way I'll be able to remember all your names.

Great having you down here KC. Maybe next year you can drag your cohorts in crime (Pilot & TT) down for the race?

Cool

Okay already!!! I know I missed out. I will be at the next smackdown. No doubt about it. But I don't feel too bad; I got to drive race cars all weekend!

On Sunday I did get to meet a bunch of new iClubbers at WSCC. Autox newbie Adam took me for an impressive ride in his OBS, while Pilot took another autox newbie, Mike?(forgive me, I'm horrible with names!) for a equally impressive ride, albeit faster, in the race car.

I'm looking forward to the next competition: Sun November 12 with the WSCC.

The Smackdown was fun. Sort of. I got the Colin McRae award for smacking a fence. Teehee. Kind of sucked. Good because I get a new front end, bad because it means the SCCA can no longer claim 8 years without an accident in Philly region. Ohwell.

Great to meet everyone...I hope to get up to some NE events!

That was a fun event, thanks to Greg for organizing it and KC and Kelley for really making me push it 110% to win. Also congrats to Kelley for the season win in STS by ONE point over me. At least Kelley let me flog his rental Focus in the afternoon.

Question

You smacked a fence? Was it poor course design or did you just go ballistic?

Well there aren't anymore Philly events until the Winter series starts in January but the South Jersey Region will be holding events on the same lot the next two weekends. I'll be there this weekend, I'll be driving a red GS-R, swapping cars for the day with the guy who beat me last year (know your enemy).

There was a lot of great driving, and I will post up a GEEZ map of the course once I get to crunch the data.

If I only could have navigated that turnaround better!! It was fun as hell, but I never got one run through there that felt good. That slalom, on the other hand felt awesome. Doble said he thought I was driving on the bases of the cones ;p

-k (Thinking back to that Nazareth event where I won by .004 ;p )

...and looking forward to the winter series!

Wink

RobbiSpec - Awesome course design, perfectly safe and within all SCCA guidelines. I just decided to break the laws of physics. Seriously, though. I was in the first run group on cold tar...55 degrees and the sun hadn't hit the track yet. Cold tires are slippery tires and I pushed too hard. I knew I was losing it so I stomped the brakes and skidded farther than anyone thought humanly possible. Not bad for 39 to 45 MPH (second gear around 5k RPM).
