Post An Introduction

Hello Impreza owners,

I've been addicted to this board for quite some time, but this is my first post. I don't own a Subaru, but hope to get a 2.5 RS in the not-too-distant future. My current car is a 97 Chevy Cavalier (don't laugh). While i's OK for a daily commuter, I want more oomph and contrary to what the j-body folks think, I don't think that a Cavalier can deliver it. So why do I hang out on this board instead of on the j-body.org board with my fellow Cavalier owners? Because the great majority of posts on the j-body site are completely idiotic (V8 engine swaps, cutting springs, etc.). Another reason is that you guys seem to be alot smarter than the people on any other car bbs I've seen. Does the 2.5 RS naturally attract a smarter individual? If I do get an Impreza it will definitely be one of the '00 models; that '02 is just plain ugly.

he he. I liked the Eclipse GSX for a total of 2 weeks. Then I started noticing how many of them there were driving around; everyone and their dog has an eclipse

Cool

And has anyone else noticed how many Impreza fans are also worshipers of the rotary gods?

I LOVE IT!

JGard I thought if you owned a Ru it meant we were gay. lol!
This BB is just more mature than other boards. I think most of the people on this site just want everyone to enjoy there cars as much as possible. So most are happy to give sound advice about making your car into Your car. It would be cool if you got a Subaru, but we won't persecute you for long if ya don't.

I think that, in general, you have to be looking for the Sube...and that implies that you have to know what you're doing and what you're looking for...and that implies intelligence.

Though it all could be unrelated.

My advice: sell the Cav and get a used Sube. You will NOT regret it.

I drove a 97 Cavalier before my Outback Sport. It's not a terrible car, considering what you pay for it. Just not a lot of driving excitement

The Impreza would be perfect for you since you live in Washington, the rain capital of the world . You should get the car because it has more power than your Cavalier, and because of Subarus reliability.

tojo -

If you don't read the NW section, you should. We get together *often*, and there is no reason that you can't come and check out the cars... hell, Squire lets everyone drive The Black car, maybe you'll get a spin in a RS Turbo...

Welcome to the club...

Hey, a friend of mine had a Cavalier...an 87 I think...maybe 89. It was black and BAD ASS. Some sort of special addition model. Eventually it crapped out on him but when it ran...sweet machine. Looked like junk, he never washed it, but it was soooo fast! Blew the doors off a friend of mine with a 92 Prelude Si (intake, exhaust, headers, chip, suspension, etc.). And the Cav was stock!

That car didn't last though...died at about 90K miles. Lots of fun though...

But needless to say...the RS is a better car.

But I have yet to beat that damn Prelude....
