Post OT: SI is gone in 2001

I heard from the honda/acura board that there will be no SI next year, but the other models will basically have a 1.8L engine, and looks like a small size accord. The SI will be back in 2002 only as a 4 dr sedan.

Yeah, but it's a honda, so how much does it matter? i guess it's just one less "sports" car (i use the term sports very, very loosely) that thinks he can beat an RS. oh well

Well they can all come over and buy the new Impreza design. After all I need somebody to wreck theirs so I can get the engine and trans. Sounds like all the car makers have decided to change things up. Call me paranoid but I don't like change. Change is never good. Change is bad, very, very bad.

You might be a bit paranoid, but you are definitely a very negative dude. If someone is going farther out of their way to piss on the new Impreza before they've even driven it, I'd like to know who.

Have you seen the new Integra? It looks IDENTICAL to the Civic. I don't mean close either. The headlights, form, EVERYTHING. That's probably the replacement for the SI.

That would be me! Sorry man, like I said. They could put a friggin Warp drive in it and I wouldn't buy the damn thing. See, this is why every other manufacturer SHOWS the concept BEFORE they put it into production. That way they can gague response and adjust the design accordingly. The Aussies dont like it. The English don't like it, and frankly either do I. I have wanted a turbo impreza for YEARS! I have put off trading in my 98 Legacy so I could get a WRX. Now, finally when they are bringing it over here they bring it over as this... thing... I don't care what kind of motor it has in it. I don't want to be seen it! Check out www.drive.com.au and check out what the Aussies think of it. Give you a clue, the article is titled Shock-Horror over new WRX! Even the JAPANESE don't like the damn thing!

I guess I am the only one that does not think its that bad. I definitely think that it will look much better in person. Change is inevitable. They cant keep the car the same for 9 years. Somebody else said that in 4 years this body style will be praised and the old one will be laughed at. Wait to pass sentence on this car until you see it up close. Pictures often dont look any good.. just be patient

I think that opinions will differ when they see it.

Besides if it performs, I dont care what it looks like

Form follows Function

Actually, I beleive the Si is becomming next years EX model, and they are going to make a sporty hatch again (a US version of the SiR maybe?). Thats what I heard from a Honda tech, anyway.

My coworkers and I all got a good laugh out of the new Impreza design. The common theme here seems to be buying the RSK B4 or the turbo Forester. I'm not going out of my way to hate the car. I have seen the pics and they are all the same. The car is ugly. The US will get a watered down POS version, SOA will demand too much money and the end result will be that the car was all hype. It won't live up to what everyone thought kind of like the RS. At least the Rs can be made into a fast car. The new car will always be ugly.

Yeah... I'm thinkin' more and more that I'll be keepin the MY00RS for as long as possible and just spending my dough modding it out. I love the way it looks and the chassis seems to be pretty solid...

One day I'll take the US spec WRX engine (or whatever they call it...)and drop her in the then-to-be-old MY00.

That's exactly what I'm going to do. I'm dissapointed that Subaru chose that design for the Impreza...I liked that one that was blue MUCH more than what it's going to look like.
