Thats just one experience..
most of the honda owners i know, and most of clubsi.com have only good things to say about the impreza whenever its name comes up.. the only negative ive heard has always been the fact that from the factory the EJ25 looses steam at higher speeds..and thats something even RS owners complain about! (same as us honda owners with the lack of torque) ..

yes, next time please title the post "stupid punk honda owners i ran into don't like subaru's." i've owned 4 honda's and have the utmost respect for subaru. in fact my next car will most likely be a subaru.

please don't rag on honda because of some of it's owners. the majority of us are not in any way like that.

Heh.. I heard a good story last night. A friend of mine was hanging out with her best friend and that girls boyfriend. He was talking trash with all of his Honda buddies saying that he has never lost when someone has stepped to him. Then my friend piped up and said, right in front of all his buddies... "What about the time you lost to Chuck in his Subaru..." HEH! He jsut said.. well, that didn't count. He just looked like another Si punk that thought his car is the fastest thing on earth. Hee hee.. I love my subie!

We had a VERY successful "cruise" (PCH Run) with clubSI guys over the weekend (140+ cars)of which 25+ (I think) were Suby's. The ONLY beef I got were from a "new" couger guy, and it was notheing to even post about here!
Sorry to here about your beef... There is ALWAYS one A$$hole that spoils it for everyone!

the problem stems from people who have a bad experience with some punk who owns a particular brand of car and because of that talk poorly about the car company. i just don't understand that.

pimpomtic, apparently you are as utterly stupid as your name. Please cease your existence immediately, you are wasting mine and others precious air.

Anyway, as an Si owner, I like RSs. I don't like them as much as other cars, but hell, I don't like my car as much as others either. As soon as I get a career and kiss my collegiate career bye-bye, I am going to trade up....maybe with an Audi. (OK, maybe even a WRX, but it's gonna have to really impress me to get past the looks).

One more thing pimpomtic, any enthusiast on this board will tell you that in a decently lengthed race, the stock Si will beat a stock RS.

Just the facts, as always.

Well i agree that he is way out line on his comments but i refuse to agree with the comments that a stock si is quicker than a stock rs...i just have had too much proof from personal experience to believe that.

but to each their own, and regardless...unless either car is turboed, they are hardly worth arguing over speed.

that being said, i would never trade up my AWD or Limited Slip for a second

Swivel1000 I think what alpha dog is getting at is that in a race longer than a quarter mile the Si will beat an RS because it has much more top end. RS= down low torque, SI= very long top end powerband. The RS will beat an Si off the line (if its a decent AWD launch) All stock of course

I can agree with getting beat after about 70-80mph

A stock RS runs out of steam from there on...but man o man, the AWD is a great car to race with off the line!

Ran into a friend with a worked civic. We stopped in a parking lot and he showed me all the modds he had. I was impressed, and a little worried that I was going get beat. he had:
*v-tech
*Intake
*Muffler
*Racing wires
*BLAh Blah Blah it didn't work I beat him anyway It was close, and I was pushing my car as hard as I could. But I was pulling ahead every time.

when we were talking I was saying how much I loved the AWD...he said it was too heavy and would only slow me down. I could almost see his jaw drop when I jumpped of the start and he was screaching his tires.

just another reason I love my Impreza!!!!

But my mother drives a 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue

on a side note, i am somewhat new to this board, but i can recall in march, i felt the general attitude of this board was quite a bit different than now. I have a feeling that the larger production of the MY00 has had some effects.

anyways

Like the electronics company? What kind of car did he have?

*Intake
*Muffler

Extensive modifications.

*Racing wires

Now THAT is where he must be getting the extra power from. Let me tell you, I added those racing wires to my car and got at least 30hp due to the added insulation and reduced charge friction. Yep, charge friction.

Tell your friend to learn how to launch his car. Burnouts are for show.

STiTkacik, that's exactly what I was saying.

Stock Impreza according to Edmunds has a 0-60 time of 8.2 seconds. A stock Si according to the same has a time of 7.2

Now I agree that figure is a little optimistic for the Si, but it's not more than a second wrong. By the time the Si hits third, assuming a good driver, you'll be going 70. If you beat your friend with his mods (assuming mods worth anything) he didn't know how to drive.

And that's the bottom line, cause AlphaDog said so.

Oh, and Pimpletonic, don't start kiddie. I was studying cars while you were still *****ting green.

Edmunds.com -- the bastion of all automotive truth; just check their message boards (everything you read on the internet is true).

Whoever drove that Impreza to an 8.2 second 0-60 must've just downed a bottle of Nyquil and a few beers, because they could not have been feeling their hands or feet very well.

Show me an Si owner on this board making an ass of himself, and I'll... oh, wait a sec.
