Default Baja Bed Cover, and other newby questions

Hey All,
This is my first post as I just came home with my new baby Turbo Baja with Leather package. My first issue is with the Bed cover. What a pain in the butt!!!! I didn't get a manual with it so I have no idea what the metal "rib" is on the underside of the cover. Any ideas what I am supposed to do with it? And, What sadist designed this thing? I plan on getting into the back often and right now I am afraid to, knowing what I have to contend with to get it back on.

Also, Where am I supposed to attach the clamps for the bed extender. There is a typical clamp, but also a black nub that protrudes from the side. Any ideas?

Lastly, anything esle I should know about my Turbo Baja, that isn't apparent after only the first 100 miles?

Thanks All,
Turbaja

There are some manuals here. I got the hard cover so I can't be of much help but I believe the bow is used to keep water from collecting in the middle of the cover and caving it in.

The black nub is to hold it down when the tailgate is down. The nubs click in the tailgate latch on each side. to release pull the handle like you would to let the tailgate down. Hope that helps.

TurBaja,

If it's going to cause you that much heartache, I'd gladly take it off your hands.

Anyway, congratz on the new Baja, mine's been the best car I've ever owned.

I am not used to the Turbo lag, is this something I just need to get used to? Will it subside once it broken in, or will I figure out acceleration control so it's not a problem?

Yeah, this thing kicks butt. I am having a Pioneer Avic-n1 in dash navigation system with DVD screen in the rear for my chidren. This car is going to be my dream manchine when I am done.

I haven't gotten a change to open mine up yet, but with my WRX I had to get used to the turbo lag..then it just became natural.. I'm sure the Baja is the same, everything else is..!

Thumbs down

I have issues with the bed cover also.

From what i gather the bow is supposed to curve upward, keeping the center of the cover raised to let water roll off, and keep it the cover rigid at highway speeds.

What the bow really does is flop over 2 seconds after you close the drivers door. It sways back and forth at frays at it's straps. It is complete crap. I've tried tightening and the strap, i've tried loosing the strap, results are always the same.

The cover would be so much better with actual snaps, not that hard plastic lip.

I love my Baja but i swear they let an intern design the bed cover.

I love my Snuglid. It's a little heavy to tak on and off but I know when I leave something in the bed it is as secure as locking it in the car.
