Question FISH: Are they pets or just decoration?

I mean, they're all living and ****, and you have to put up with their mess, so that makes them pet-like.

But they don't do much aside from go around in circles. So do ceiling fans. They also seem to have about as much personality, too. They're real purty, though.

I'm debating getting some fish as my g/f has a spare 10gallon tank that she'll donate to my cause. This is also my asshat thread of the day.

Discuss.

10 gallon tank ain't gonna hold much. If your new the fish game, bigger is better.

Fish are both pets and living art.

Africa has Chiclets too?

No, but seriously -- I'm playing around but suggestions are appreciated. Anybody know of a good fish forum for n00bs?

I have NO IDEA about teh fishes so something simple, not-too-difficult to maintain, and pretty would be nice.

africans like to be crowded with rocks...some can be as colorfull as saltwater fish...easy to keep, grow slow.

I am sure Fishguy can give you better insight.

if you have lots of cash, you can do a nice 10 gallon mini-reef, no fish just coral.

Fistguy hates me. Unrequited love is the most painful thing man can experience. Well, that and plucking a nose hair.

Fishguy is by no means the most attractive decoration God created. He reminds me of Ron Perlman in Quest for Fire.

If you can't interact with it it's a decoration not a pet (sort of like a plant)

Get an oscar.......it's like having a dog in a tank. They recognize people and items, they greet you when you walk in the room by sloshing water all over the place while they beg for food.....and they live 10-20 years depending on how well they are taken care of. Anyone want mine? I really want to go salt....
