Default Chip out of my Rota :\

I just realized that I have a small chip taken out of one of my rota spokes. It's about half way down the spoke and about 3mm wide by 3mm deap...like a large rock hit it! It was on a front wheel.

Is this something to be concerned about? I don't drive too aggressively, but I'll take turns fast on occasion. I just don't want the wheel's integrity to be compromised.

Any thoughts?

Been thinking about that. But, it's $150 for 18", unless prices went down. And I don't know if Royal Gunmetal is available anymore.

From the picture, I can't say how deep the chip is. If it's superficial, don't worry about it. If it's deep, it depends how deep.

Ouch! IMO, I would replace that wheel. At the very least do a weekly visual check to make sure no cracks form. On of my Rota Subzeroes also got hit with a rock (during the first week I got them ) but it is much, much less damage than yours. You are missing a chunk of material , better safe than sorry when wheels/tires/brakes are concerned.

That looks like a few mm, and possibly some stress fractures along the crack in the right pic with the quarter, I would replace it.

That's a dime!! If it was a Quarter...Ugh.

Hmm...Anyone have an 18" Royal Gunmetal subzero to sell?

I wonder if these can be repaired...

Yea, duct tape is the stuff. Almost as good as carbon fiber which as we all know is very hard to damage.

Seriously though, it looks like Rota customer service is stepping up to the plate again. Nice. Makes me want to buy a 3rd set of Rotas.
