Default 5 speed clutch 6 spd tranny??

Can I use a 5 speed clutch on a sti 6 spd tranny? I want to drop a sti tranny into my 02 wrx. It'll be a couple of months before I have the money for the tranny. But much clutch is in pretty bad shape know. If I put in a ACT 5 spd clutch in now will it work with the sti tranny?

I don't want to waste any money here, this is going to cost enough as it is. But I don't want to limp around on a weak clutch if I don't have to.

Any body ever done this?

Thanks

Now of course I'm speaking with no experience, but reading around here I seem to recall you need the 6spd flywheel, so I would assume a different clutch.

Hopefully this will tide you over until someone with ACTUAL knowledge comes and answers you.

I am not sure about the 5pd into 6spd but i know people have made the 6spd clutch work in the 5spd with some grinding.. Why not go that route if you are sure you will go 6spd?

Seem like more people come through here than the drivetrain forums, that's why I posted it here. But, I'll try that.

I may consider changing the clutch and then going with a gear set. But, I really want a 6 speed lol.

you should just do the 6 speed clutch on your 5 speed until you can get the sti tranny. The clutch, flywheel and throw out bearing is ~ 300.00. Here is a link to do the 6 speed clutch into the 5 speed tranny.
