Default engine maintenence/problems?

This question may be very broad, or possibly dumb, so I do apologize adead of time.

My car seems to be not running as smoothly lately, and I can't put my finger on what exactly it is.
It seems like the engine doesn't accelerate or even hold speed as smooth as it used to, like the engine is working harder then it should be, or like its running rougher.

I wish I could explain it better, but I cant put it into words.

anyone have any clue? or am i just being paranoid?

When was new spark plugs/air filter installed?? Try a bottle of TECHRON FUEL SYSTEM CLEANER from WalMart for ~ 6 dollars. This will clean up the fuel injectors/combustion chambers and intake & exhaust valves. Be sure to get the "fuel system cleaner and NOT the juel injector cleaner. Ed and report back to this thread with the results.

Have you done the 60K maintenance? 30k? Your car probably just needs a tune up, do new plugs, wires, fuel filter, clean or replace air filter, clean or replace pcv, etc. Clean the intake tract with some Seafoam or MCC also. Fuel system cleaner would be good too, I would reccomend 44k though.

OK, so I will now start this with letting everyone know that I AM A DUMBASS

cool now that thats out of the way...

I obviously oiled my intake filter WAY to much when I cleaned it recently and I might have oiled the wrong side. Cuz... now that I think of it this problem has been happening since I cleaned it, and I just took it off to notice that there is filter oil on the inside of the intake tubing, and it looks like it may have been sucked in through the throttle body or through the hoses. I was in a hurry when I cleaned it, mistake #1.

DID I KILL MY ENGINE??????????

What can I do to fix this ASAP??

Man I feel like a dumb**** right now let me tell ya, any help is GREATLY appreciated.

Tally on one lesson learned for this guy!

I doubt you hurt anything.
Just clean up the oil and go from there.

you should use a non-oiled filter such as a pipercross. Expensive, but worth it.
