Took my car in last week to the dealership to get some squealy sound checked out in the steering. As usual the tech could not find it and there was nothing wrong. To cut the long story short, I told the service advisor that I'll bring it in when it gets worse. He said to me that I have aftermarket suspension (AGX and Eibach) so they will charge me $48 diagnostic fee the next time . If they find that it is a legitimate warranty issue then they will refund me the $48, otherwise I'll have to eat the fee and pay for the fix too.
Now I'm more hesitant in taking the car in for suspension inspections - hopefully then never come. I do agree if the aftermarket component causes a failure of the OEM part I should pay for it, but I don't like diagnosing it for $48 and then they say everything is fine or nothing is wrong - which happens almost always. Has anyone heard or got this treatment with their modified subaru's? GTMAN 98GT

Baloney. (sp? I suck)
Fight it. Call SOA. They will set the record straight. Now if you had made a engine mod or something, I could expect (but not accept) this kind of crap. They are trying to get out of doing the work. |

read this!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the part of it that deals with companies trying to void warranties because you did not use the manufacturers maintenance products. There is another part dealing with products warranty remaining intact unless the modification or non oem part causes the failure of an oem part and then only that part can be nul and void. |
