Default keyless entry

I've bought a '99 Outback. It came with only one keyless entry remote -- and it works. I bought another one off EBay, now I'm trying to program the car to use it.

This is the Alpine style. As I understand it this style would never have a reset button under the dash. Is this right?

I've been going through the, open door, close door, put key in, cycle 10 times in 15 sec, return key to lock position... over and over... with no honk.

Any ideas? I've spent almost 2 hours messing with it. I guess I could have taken it to the dealer and went to work for 2 hours instead.

Thanks.

i have a 97 outback with keyless entry. it does have a reset button under the dash (on the far left side - black push button that hangs down) . To add a new remote it says to hold the reset button down for 15 sec til the locks cycle 3 times, then click lock on the remote you want to program (whilst still hold the reset button down), locks should cycle. Then do the same thing for the next remote. There are 4 slots for remote to be added and they recommend filling all of them (even if you just have 2 - do them both twice). One other thing - mine does not honk ever. It only flashes the parking lights.
