Im thinking of selling my Safc2 and ITC combo and putting the money towards a set of cams. I was planning on using the combo to advance timing and trim a little fuel and hopefully see some nice gains, but from playing with the SAFC2 a little bit (not properly tuned) it doesnt seem like i will be seeing any significant gains. (ITC is not currently installed)
I realize that after i get cams these piggy back computers would be more useful, but im thinking a cobb reflash (if they ever finish it) would be more beneficial. for those that have cams, does the car run fine with nice gains without tuning? if i was to keep the computers and save up for cams would the gains i see from tuning be substantial enough to warrent holding on to them now? current power mods cobb intake, borla headers, 2.25 midpipe, scoobysport axleback gfb pulleys, exedy lw flywheel, exedy clutch. safc2 what do you think. i say sell your scoobysport........
... to me to be honest i figured keeping them would help with tuning the cams but as you said the reflash would probably help more, but who knows when it would be done |

On an '02 the safc is not good for long term tuning, it will alter map changes for a bit, but then the ECU will learn around it. Not sure about the ITC though.
If you know you want to stay NA then definitely do cams, they are going to provide some of the best gains for any NA setup. The cams in our cars are not designed for all out power, rather they are ground to create lots of torque down low. All of Cobbs numbers on their website are without any kind of tuning that I know of. |

my Cobb street cams have made me really happy with no additional tuning. This is what our cars should've came as...
Just feels smoother/more powerful throughout the entire range. Really happy with them. |
