Default Is this correct engine air filter for STi?

Hi from Toronto.

Have a 2004 STi

Bought air filter from dealer in Toronto.
Filter in the box is dry paper element.
Box is white and says made in Canada.
Part# SCI530005.

I searched and seems others have commented the stock filer should be pre-oiled paper.

Appraciated those who have replace their USDM STi with OE filter
let me know whether you have also got a dry element filter.

Thanks in advance.

16546AA020 is the part number, same as WRX.

SCI#### is a Subaru Canada number.

Thanks Glen,

I would be wary to use it if OE is wet paper (oiled).

Seems another trip is needed to find out whether there are 2 kinds of STi/WRX air filter form the dealer.

Cheers & have a happy Easter.

You are probably looking at the pix of the aftermarket STI filter.

The stock filter is a dry paper element, I think. Perfectly fine for most uses. OE air filters are usually pretty good.

Thks, ADR.
The filter I have gotten is dry white paper with black rubber frame & metal mesh on top. Subaru Canada # only. Seems a Canadian contractor supplied OEM item.

Glen - thanks for letting me know OE filter is dry element. I have no problem with OE filter. Just a little surprised as I was expecting oiled one. And I cannot remember last time I saw an OE engine air filter with white paper element.

Cheers all again from Toronto.

Hi ADR,

Thansk for the further information.

I check my original this morning. It is same as your description - red pleated paper element with black rubber frame and without mesh. I also feel it is oiled but hard to tell on a 16000km old filter.

Think I'll check further befroe I put the snow white Canadian dry filter in.

As of floor mat.
Are you looking for the carpet or the rubber matt?

The blue footwell carpets with STi logo that came with my car are very very flimsy. Their colour does match that of the molded carpet though.

The rubber matt I got are the WRX ones.

Tell me what you are lookng for and I''ll check the price out for you next week.

2dino : I want the carpeted ones . . . .with STi logo. From what ive read in here YOURS are supposed to be better quality then the USA ones. I like rubber for easy cleanup .. .they stay put.
The carpeted ones will add the final touch.. .. . is there 2 for the rear as well?
ps: You should consider a PERRIN panel filter .. .. .im using one right now. Thanx for the feedback. . .. .time to go spool up.
Thanx ADR

Hi ADR,

Checked again daytime and realized I made a bobo:
the carpet matt in Canadian STi are black, not blue in colour with pink colour STi emb. on front matts.

Anyway. Cost is around CAN $118 from dealers here (so about USD80).

They could ship directly to you in the states.

You may try to check each dealers at:
http://www.mississauga.subarudealer.ca/
and
http://www.trento.subarudealer.ca/
and
http://www.attrell.subarudealer.ca/

Let me knwo if need further info.

Cheers.

so what air filter did you end up using? My STi replacement is also white and same part number 16546 AA020. But the original filter is red. Should I use this one?

I have to disagree with Glenn here...

Stock filters (replacement) for all MAF airbox type Subarus (STi, WRX, early Forester, Impreza, Legacy, SVX) are the AA020 part number and ARE oiled. The element is either a yellowish color or a pinkish red depending on production date, there is no difference between them other than color.

Porter, thanks alot! Mine is the yellowish one and it is oiled a bit. I also thought that the difference was just production date.
