If the Kumho tires are good enough for you on those Volks, maybe you should try posting in the Dress up forum.

i got Pilot Sports on my Stock wheels.
you sir, are a moron.

Rotas are a great wheel set. Tires are more important though. Someday i hope to upgrade to a set of Rota SDRs or other "copycat" wheels.

Mr. Disibility,

You are fixated on one factor and NOTHING else: PRICE

What about value? Rotas are comparable to wheels that are three times the price. Why do you feel the need to spend more? Just to satisfy your ego? Thats all I'm seeing here is an ego issue.

so let's see.

I can buy ProDrive P1s (I know where I can get some USED (half worn tires included) with minor curbing for $1200).

OR, I can buy Rota Tarmac IIs that are the P1 knockoff, weigh less are likely just as strong (maybe a little less) and pay $650 shipped from subydude.

hmm. So, I can say "I've got ProDrives" and enjoy the boost it gives to my penis (and ego!!!) or I can have the same look and slightly better performance for LESS money with Rotas.

Downside to Rotas: Uppity people make fun of you for having them.

Upside to Rotas: less weight, less money, similar quality and longevity.

hmmm..which to choose.

On that note: Joe - I think I'll be calling you for some Tarmac IIs in a couple weeks

MrDisibility -
Can you please explain what is wrong with the Rotas? I have a set of ASA KA3 rims as my winter rims on my STi, which presumably fall into the "MickeyD" category with the Rotas because they don't cost $1000 apiece. I have no fitment issues, they appear to be durable, and they look decent. In fact, after I put them on, my dad said he liked they way they looked better than my $700 BBS rims.
I also don't pay $125 for Nikes when I can buy sneakers that last longer and do the exact same thing for $20. If your ego is so fragile that you pay a premium for 'brand name' rims just because you are so worried what other people think of your car, then go right ahead. As for me (and the rest of the halfway intelligent people on here), I will go with the rims that look just as good, have better performance (i.e. less weight), and are half the price.

S'plain pleeze.

You recently had some CE28Ns for sale in Private CLassifieds ... Are you selling these rims on their behalf? With the crap that you put up with about Rotas... I'm starting to smell a rat.

Selling as a vendor in personal classifieds is a reason to get banned.

The basic difference here is that you are looking at quality per dollar (or really APPEARANCE of quality, nice Kumhos) whereas most everyone on this site wants performance per dollar. You'll find that most people on this board bought their car because of it's high performance to $$$ ratio or fun to drive ability. Consequently they want to mod their cars to enhance this. So buying cheaper rims that perform better makes sense. You'd be better off on an S2k or Audi forum IMHO.

Funny story.. My wife and I went out to eat last night. We went to Chilis.

While we were waiting for our table, we went to the bar for a drink. A couple comes in and decides not to wait for a table and they decided to eat at the bar.

They asked the bartender 'Where's the Awesome Blossom? It's not on the menu anymore.'

Bartender says 'We don't carry it any more.'

My wife and I hear that and say... "Check please". We paid for our drinks and went to Outback where they have the Bloomin Onion.

It's really the Awesome Blossom that was bringing us back to Chilis, and that's what we really wanted.

So in putting this into perspective...

Chilis = McDonalds. So SSR = Rotas.

Could be the food poisoning I got the last time I was there... It just could be that im a food snob and dont care for packaged chain restrants. I like my food and drink like I like my motor builders high quality. No cheep JE pistons...

Wheels are a different story they should do the job and be easy to replace...

I was at chili's last night and we had an awesome blossom.

I'm sorry to hear that had to happen to you KC.

I once got food poisoning from wendys, I refused to eat there for a really long time. Then I realized that I can get a Med. Dr. Pepper, med. fries, 5 piece chicken nuggets, and jr. bacon cheeseburger for 4.16.

That being said, I promptly returned.

Up here in New Egland, no longer an option on the menu. Give it a little while for it to disappear from your menu.
