Right now, I driven a 95 Impreza LX 2.2L.
(Not too much more depreciation for this one.)

I'm definitely considering the WRX Turbo!

BUT, if SOA decides to put the 2.0T in the Legacy GT - then I might ditch the Impreza and go with the Legacy. (I know that there has been no mention from SOA of putting the 2.0T in the Legacy - but I can always dream...)

And your point is... what?

The turbo fills a need that I am willing to pay for. Plain and simple.

What I meant is for those who are financing their Imprezas.... you will be paying for 2 years or maybe 1 and then start all over again for the turbo? Is that what you're willing to do? Can I have a rationale for this as I am thinking about it too....

Subaru's working on a market study on this one too. They figure there will be a lot of 2.5L engines out there when the MY02 hits the market. And what better way to make them more appealing (as well as generate more money for the dealers) than a dealer installed, bolt on turbo kit.

This has been a rumor. It doesn't help that the guys at my dealership are repeating this statement, but it is still a rumor...

Are there any reliable/confirmerd reports of a US 5-door WRX, or RS for that matter? I need a 5-door, and I'd like more selection than just L and OB Sport, but with many manufacturers dumping wagons entirely, it seems like adding more wagons in the US, especially for sport/performance models, sounds like something I shouldn't get my hopes up about. (Is that a sentence?)

Really, the RS would be fine for me--I wouldn't want to spend more for the WRX--but an RS wagon would be very nice.

Its probably our last shot at performance (in the USA) before we become "Suberlet". GM ownership will kill the spirit of this company...

Thumbs up

Hello Everybody!!
I just bought my MY00RS last saturday.
One more RS into the pool...
I'm amazed at how quiet it is.

Re: Turbo...
The dealer mentioned he has no problem bolting on a turbo when it comes out. But that's dealer talk. However, if the only difference between the WRX and the 2.5RS is the turbo, how hard will it be for a dealer to charge people to bolt one on?
And it'll be backed by Subaru too.

lmao...what you mean sell their baby's for a whole new neon-ified turbo wrx...nah i think i will keep mine, and my future purchase and project (e36 m3 with aftermarket turbo kit on the I6 making about 420 Rear wheel HP ), as well as buying a wrx wagon...yes a wagon...and i know..i am young, why do i need a wagon...the ROOM dang it, that and lower insurance...i hope

although the factory turbo on the 2.5 might be good...i don't know although i know i will for SURE be purchasing a wrx of some sort, along with keeping the RS. so, depreciation will kill the RS value, but i love it so much it don't matter, that's why i am keeping it...if that makes sense good...if not...umm..i am lost too.

Trading my car in is not an option. I can sell it on the market for a greater price than what the dealer would want to take it in at as a trade-in.

If you look at cars from an investment standpoint, they ARE the worst investment that you will ever make in your life.

That's why I don't look at them as an investment. I look at it as yes, I know that money's disappearing, but I'm not one of those people that is concerned about such a thing as how much it would cost or car payments. I also know there are better cars that I can buy for my money or a little more.

You need to look at them as to the value they provide for the price you pay.

I value fun in a biiiig way.

I think if the build quality is up to par with most of the other German builders producing awd cars and the performance is up to expectations, I'm getting rid of my 99 RS and going with the turbo. I'm sick of the rattles and overall cheap quality of the interior, but I definitely love the look and performance of the RS. That's why I got it and not an A4.

Hey Frog, don't forget the price relative to build quality. The base A4 costs a lot more and it comes with the same engine that is found in the VW GTI, Rabbit, and Jetta It even has the similar performance numbers.

I don't know really.

I had planned on trading in my 98RS for the new turbo...until I saw the pics of it. Now I am not so sure. I will need to see the car in the flesh...and the price of it before deciding.

Right now all any of us can do is wait and watch.

Question

I'm not sure, either. Once I heard that in 2002, a new Impreza was due, well... I sort of wished I'd held on to the Acura a bit longer. Not that I want to give my RS away, mind you... I love it. But... you know how it is. If there's something "bigger and better" en route, and you're just fine how you are, why settle?

That's in the past, however. We'll see how the numbers stack up. If this new car drives better than the current one to a point where it feels like a totally new, revised beast, then I'll trade up/sell/whatever. If not... there's no point. I have a brand new car, I'm in no rush to get rid of it.

Odd that everyone talks about rattles, though. I haven't gotten any yet, and lots of folks mentioned theirs starting shortly post-purchase. Hmm. Maybe I just play my music too loudly.

y not wait and see what happens with the new wrx and see if it has any bugs first. i know it is suposed to be last years model from japan. but the pixs in maxium look different wich means what else did they change? hummmm

yes i want a turbo too but is it worth it to say you got the first one? and its only 235 you can hit it on the rsw with the rite mods. and its not a sti.

come to think of it those bastards are smart. y only the turbo and not the others? cause they want to increase sales in the parts department. we are already buying sti for a rs. ohhhh hummmmm...*thinks*.

Oh yeah! My next car will probably be the Legacy GT Limited, as soon as they get the H6 engine in it. I think that will be a great car, especially if they tweek it and get some more ponies out of the engine.

I've been swapping out my cars every year for the last three years.
...and that was for a 2.5 RS!!!

Do you think I'm going to stop for the TURBO??!!

HaHaHaHa-Haaaaaa!

I already have someone who is waiting for the turbo to hit, so he can take my RS off my hands.

...and there is allways my good old friends at the dealer who will be very happy to get me out of my RS and into a TURBO...
