Default Idea for low cost upgrade - what do you think?

Hello everyone,

Picked up my new '04 WRX Tuesday. LOVE the car so far, but the only thing that is missing is a better sounding radio. Given that I'm not looking for a booming car and don't want to spend lots of $, here was an idea I had:

Keep stock deck and run a crossover to the original speakers so they donít get as much bass. They seem to be ok for mids/highs but too much bass makes it buzz, so some dynamat might be needed as well.

Then, get a 5 channel amp and build a sub box for a 10Ē (I can make custom ones out of fiberglass). Assuming I get stuff off Ebay, I could do this for ~$250 or so and have a stealth system that sounds a little better + I can always upgrade other speakers later (hence the 5 channel).

Any other low budget ideas? I'm looking for bang for the buck.

first upgrade should be Speakers for sure. then better deck.... i had full system in my car and end up taking my 2 12's out completely... (too heavy) ... car system sounds nice as it is... with just upgraded speakers... put 6 1/2 for front and 5 1/4 rear... you will be amazed with results.
