Case Situation

My deck doesn't run wattage. Can the subwoofer up to the 40.2 Rockford Fosgate amp and turn the bass fairly down. (I dont to blow it!) Would this work?

What are you looking for, Sev? If you're talking about an internal amp so you can just run your speakers off the radio directly, it doesn't have one ("Pre-Amp Output Only"). You'll have to use an amp(s) no matter what.

I don't know Rockford's amps, but if you get a pre-out to it and then run that to the sub, just turn the gain on the amp all the way down and slowly turn up the stereo. Start slowly turning up the amp gain little by little until you get the radio up to about 90-95% of volume, where the gain on the amp should be set to put out the volume from the sub that you'd like. From there, all you'd need to do is some fine tuning.

BTW, why address the stereo question to me? I haven't posted much about it and it's been a while since I've tuned them... not that I really forgot it all though.

No no... pre-amp is in the radio itself. From what I read about your deck up above, you don't have any, but with those amps you should be fine to run you whole stereo.

While we're at it, can you state this in English - "My deck doesn't run wattage. Can the subwoofer up to the 40.2 Rockford Fosgate amp and turn the bass fairly down. (I dont to blow it!) Would this work?"

LOL, I'm not sure what you're looking for. Maybe to see if your sub will blow up if you put it on that amp?

Actually wait... you're looking at hooking up a Subaru factory sub, aren't you? I thought it had an internal amp in it, didn't it? You'd need a line level input in that case, making your other amp you had for your sub useless.

Well....hmmm. I am not a stereo expert, so here's my input.

Your CD deck has no internal amp (ie: no 40x4 etc) running it.

Now, with a set-up like this, every speaker in your car is run with amplifiers. However, the stock sub is pre-amplified ( I believe), meaning that it has a built in amp. So, it would seem logical to think that the sub/amp from Subaru would hook up as easily as any amp would, it is just that the subwoofer is built in.

It's like the Bazooka bass tubes. You wire up the amp only, so you shouldn't have to play with your amps (Rockford's) as far as bridging, etc goes.
