I just got off the phone with a local dealer here in San Diego and he said that next week he will have the price sheets and specs for the 2001 turbo... I was thinking of getting a 2000 model but I did not know that the 2001's would be available so soon. I test drove an MY00 automatic (eeew) and liked it but felt it definatly needed more power since my last car was a 93 RX-7 TT :-) I rolled that one though :-( so am looking for a fast AWD car.

Maybe you don't need a fast car if you rolled your last one. Try a Hummer they have a nice wide wheelbase.
![]() Just playing. ![]() That is good news, if the dealer isn't just talking out of their a**. |

Well it was in the rain so I figured as long as a turbo RS did not have a tendency to go sideways when the second turbo kicked in....

I'm going to have to stop by the bar and ask the salesman I dealt with about that... Hmmmmm... Damn decisions, decisions...
Nahhhhhhh... I think I like mine too much to trade it in unless that new one is hella quick, in which case I will be getting one. ![]() |

Ouch. This is what kills me
. I'm not sure if its worthwhile waiting until next year for the new Impreza or if I should just follow my urges and get one now. Keep us posted ![]() Drifter |

Paisan is correct. The New body style is going to be released this year, then the turbo sometime next year as a 2002 model. BTW, the turbo isn't going to be a 2.5 either.

If the 2001's going to be like the 2000, is there some kind of surplus? I thought the new Impreza's going to debut in Japan in just a few months, and there's only one plant making the things.

I hate the speculation BUT here goes...
I went to Manassas Subaru today and the salesman I spoke to new all about the new turbo. He said they already have one on order for next spring. He also said that it will be the 2.0 liter 220 hp spec we heard so much about and the price is 25-30K. This range was dependant upon options! It will also be called the Impreza GT. It will be available only in the four door model as far as he knows. The only reason I am posting this is because he seemed to be very knowledgeable and was really able to converse well on the 2.5 RS, proving to me that he actually did know his stuff, and was able to answer any question I could come up with on the upcoming turbo model. |

You spoke with Phil Levy, right? This is the guy that claims that the new Impreza comes with 18" rims!
![]() I spoke with him at length at Manassas Subaru, and he definitely knows what a salesman would know, and claims to know more as most salesman do, but he just doesn't have any real details! I was very frustrated trying to get info out of him. I also told him that I am going to buy a Turbo as soon as they are available, but I put my deposit elsewhere. |
