Clutch problem

I just got my clutch replace with the ACT clutch. I've noticed the car shudders/rumbles during idle sometimes. In addition, the rod/crank (or whatever it's called) that inside the engine for the clutch rattles like crazy. I can hear the noise from inside and it's worse outside! I called the mechanic and he said it's not normal for the rod to have contact with the other piece. There's about a 0.5" gap between the two piece. Odd thing is if I stabilize the rod (wish I have pictures to show) from shaking the noise is gone. Is there something I can tighten to eliminate the noise? Just wondering if this is normal or not.

Also, with the new clutch installed it seems like 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear locks in so fast I get whiplashes. I'm more use to it now, but 1st gear shifting is still terrible. Either I shift fast and hope I can substain the whiplashes or engage the clutch slowly. But by doing it slowly I'm ruining the clutch.

Need advice whether the shudder and noise is because of the new clutch or not and how I should shift in 1st gear. The noise seems abnormal to me, whether it's suppose to or not
